50sog film...

Books - predictable boring

Film - overhyped and probably boring too

Oh yeah! How could I forget about Age of Ultron?! *facepalm*

I'm working on theory its going to be rubbish, as the film topic is sex but its made by Hollywood so there can't be any sex in it.

The new UK laws on censorship dont in any way effect films like this, theyre to do with actual (and not simulated) sexual acts that in the old days you had to visit a sexshop to watch, but now can buy from any non-UK company on internet.

The female director has only directed 2 other films so no idea what her style is, but one of them was a short film about a young couples first sexual experience called "Love You More". No idea how erotic or explicit that wss, although it was for Film4 so might have realistic sex in it, unlike 50 Shades of Grey which is Universal Pictures, who i cant say i can recall ever distributing a film even with a flaccid member or real nudity in (although im absolutely no film buff). US mainstream has to pander to the conservative right and religious types, didnt a tv company get fined $1M for janet jacksons breast being exposed in Superbowl interval? Im sure european countries will get a few extra bits in some scenes though.

9 Songs (a british film of 2004) - I still think this is the only film in 21st century so far you could go to your local Odean and see proper actual (healthy) sex.

9 and a half weeks was pretty raunchy, if i remember rightly?

I'm not too pushed on it, will probably watch it at some stage but wont be going to the cinema to watch it, I did however get the wife and her sister tickects to the premiere of it and they can't wait to go, I've organised dinner and drinks before and I'm sure they'll have drinks after.... I can only imagine what they'll be like.

I was flicking through a few films the other night and I found one called Bound, it features Charisma Carpenter (Buffy and Angel TV Series) and it is a BDSM, bondage movie and the wife and I watched the trailer... it's your lower budget looking film (straight to dvd) and I got a copy and the wife fancies watching it this weekend.

I'll give an update once we watch it, might fill the void until 50SOD arrives.

I've read the books because I used to run a blog that reviewed bad fanfictions, and since they were based on a Twilight fanfiction I jumped on the bandwagon and read them to review them. Turns out, I managed only to write a decent piece on the first book, the second and third were left untouched, they're bad enough as they are, they don't need someone to point out why they suck.

As for the movie, I'm kind of interested in seeing how they dealt with all the sex and how they will portray Ana and Christian's relationship, which in the books is nothing but abusive, stalkerish and just bad. The books showed BDSM as something bad, something a person likes because he or she is broken and stuff like that. I'm curious to see if they corrected it in the movie, but I highly doubit they did. I don't know if I'm going to see it in the theater, but if I do, I think I'll be laughing all the time.

With that said, I remember in September 2012 my handcuffs broke and I went to a local sex shop (didn't know about Lovehoney at the time) to get a replacement and when I handed the box to the cachier she looked at me, utterly disappointed and looked at me and a friend that had come with me to do some shopping for himself (he was not my boyfriend) and says "You read 50 Shades?"

And I was like "Girl, I've been into BDSM since way before 50 Shades. I think the books are rubbish and that they portray BDSM in a very derogatory way, my cuffs broke and I needed a new pair. That's it."

At that she smiled and hugged me saying "Thank you. You're the first that knows what she's talking about that came here ever since that book came out. Thank you."

My friend one worked in a sex shop asked about fsog I replied utter drivel unreadable she replied thank you for making my day, its so over hyped.

9 1/2 Weeks was very racy. I saw it once with an ex and I was really in the mood afterwards, but he wasn't! So frustrating!

However, I watched it again recently and I don't think we finished the film and had each other (OH not ex!) LOL!

i may need to rewatch it with mr. monkey :p

We've got our tickets, is it one film for all three books, or just the first, with another two to follow?

Thank you for sharing that, it really made me smile. I can't even call myself a novice in BDSM, given that my gf is far away, atm, but it's something we both have an interest in and from our talks and our shared fantasies, she certainly seems to have the dominant personality, while I lean more towards being sub and while we certainly have our anxieties, we're not the emotional train-wrecks that 50SoG seem to allude to.

I've always thought it was funny, because in Italy the book actually had more success after that episode happened to me. And you know... Italians are kind of hypocrite when it comes to sex, but I never thought that book would drive so many people into purchasing BDSM gear basing their opinion on BDSM only on what they read in the books. It was kinda scary actually, because while reading it I thought that if someone wanted to imitate them, someone was bound to get hurt, bad, one way or another.

But maybe the movie manage to correct that aspect, maybe it didn't, I don' know. I'm curious, really.

Sure thing, the books and the movie and the media frenzy about them kind of forced the BDSM community to come out of the closet and actually explain how things work to the world, I also noticed that since the books came out the Wikipedia article has been expanded a lot, it contains more detailed information. Probably, if the author had access to those information when she wrote the original fanfiction, things would be different and maybe FSOG would be a better book.

If you enjoyed the book I'm pretty sure the movie will deliver. The prodcos behind it are Triggerstreet and Focus I think, with Universal backing the funding and distribution. They are savvy enough to know the fsog audience is huge and don't need to please the masses.

Didn't read the book and wont watch the film. For me, it's porn for cowards..

If you dont have the balls to google and masturbate to fisting porn, then get out lol
