Only reason I ask is because the last time I used it, I had a burning, tingling sensation in my mouth & lady garden afterwards - didn't think much of it in all honesty.
Today I found some joke rubber false teeth, and put them in to scare my niece - yep, same reaction (just not downstairs, that would be odd).
There is also another thread relating to smelly rubber toys -; http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/community/forums/sex-toys/518782-smelly-toys/ with the concensus being that Phalates are the cause of the overwhelming aroma that is emitted by these rubber toys, yet Lovehoney on most of the popular Doc Johnson rubber/PVC toys state that there are no Phalates in their make up!!
MLC - I'm sorry that you seem to have had a reaction to your toy. This could be for one of a few reasons. If you've had it less than a year and bought it through us, it might be worth talking to Customer Care to see if there's anything we can do :)
Firstly, PleasureSkin (aka TPE) is very porous and can easily harbour bacteria. We always recommend cleaning your toys with an effective anti-bacterial cleaner to keep them in tip top condition, but even with the best will in the world, PleasureSkin toys will likely need an upgrade eventually. With use, bacteria can build up over time which later on can cause an unpleasant sensation during play. Another way to protect your toy can be to put a condom on before use, creating a barrier between you and the porous material.
Another reason some toys can cause a stinging sensation over time is due to the way they're stored and the lube they've been used with. If you have stored your toys in a box without individual storage bags, touching materials can react with one another and change the chemical composition of the toy. Also, using an incompatible lube can cause the same problem. Always make sure you store your toys separately and use the correct lubricant to stop this happening :) You can find out more about lube compatibility in our 'Which is the Best Lube?' Buyers Guide. In this instance, only water-based lubes are compatible with this toy - oil and silicone based are a big no no!
Although PleasureSkin products can contain phthalates, Lovehoney do a lot of research and communicate with our suppliers to ensure we mostly stock non-phthalate products. If an item does contain phthalates, we clearly label it within the product description.
Don't forget to douse your PleasureSkin toy in renewer powder (aka Cornstarch) after cleaning and before putting into storage to maintain it's 'real-feel' quality.
