Well I wear 32" trousers (my legs are normal length, I'm only short overall because my torso is short!)
The reason the stockings don't fit isn't the length but girth!!! The manufacturers are mad if they think anyone over a size 6 has a chance of fitting into them (never mind size 8-14 as the "one size" label claims to cover!)

I know, it looks so nice! I was gutted because I'd wanted it for ages and brought it with the money for winning model of the month. I opened the packet, took one look at the stockings and laughed! Just to check I put my hand in and tried to see if it would stretch a bit but nope!!! Seriously, who has thighs that are as wide as their calves?! Grrr! I might have wriggled into them if I'd really tried but there would have been a high risk of laddering and some seriously unattractive bulging....not terribly seductive!
It's a good job I don't have hang ups about my body because that could have been upsetting!

I know! It's a huge issue! Back when I was insecure about my boobs, the first basque I bought was from AS....I put it on and cried because at a size 8 or something similarly tiny it was too big and totally unflattering...manufacturers get it wrong so often!
That's why "one size" clothes - I generally wait until they're reviewed and look for "I'm a size x and it was too big/too small/fit perfectly"

Although if some people are anything like my nan they're pretend they're 2 sizes smaller than they are.
I know people who do that, I really don't get it! Even more confusing are the people who are so adamant that they're a smaller size that they buy and wear things that are waaaaaaaaaaay too little for them and it looks silly! Who cares what size is on the label, something that fits you well is always going to be much more flattering!

I know people who do that, I really don't get it! Jeans in holland don't do that, they still leave it on the inside!
