Arthritis Problems - Any Suggestions Please

Until recently my Wife and I have enjoyed a fairly active love life.

Unfortunately my wife has a fairly long standing back problems and now has arthritis in her back and this is now spreading into her hips.

As a result of this intercourse has started to become painful and although she still enjoys the thought of sex, she has become very cautious (obviously) when it actually comes to making love.

We still try, but usually end up with oral and masterbating each other (although she is also cautious of this in case she jerks if/when she has an orgasm.

She has started taking pain killers before we start which helps a little but I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any positions which may help or if anyone can suggest any reading on sexual postions which might offer a solution (the "usual" books I have checked don't seem to offer much help)

Thanks

I have no experience in this area, however I did find this on the internet.

The last one covered your situation.

I hope it helps :)

Hi Stacie, I am sorry to hear this. It's sounds like you care very much for your OH. Whilst vigorous sex will be a problem. I hope that maybe you both may find one of these may help.

that's a really good link i would also suggest as a sufferer of Rheumatoid Arthritis you experiment with positions till you find ones that cause her the least pain i know in my condition there's no way i'm able to do any kneeling/squatting positions or ones that require lengthy standing i am fine with laying on my back or sitting. you might find you need pillows or a wedge to give the back extra support and don't be too energetic this can make the pain worse

Spot on post above! ![](upload://lJMrTcqgi5lI1FOpb07OYOcv2YF.gif)

I too have arthrits in my spine and hips (well most of my body). Is she seeing a rheumatologist at all? Steriod injections and specialised medication can help, along with pain killers. Pillows are handy to use too.

Good luck in finding a solution x

Thanks everyone for the advice - certainly gives us a few ideas!
