just to add another dimension... I stopped BFing at 10mo and my babe is now 20mo - and milk never completely stopped coming out, I have always been able to squeeze out a drop or 2. That could be good news for your baby (I mean the little one, not the big one), as 6 months is a little short for him/her to get the full benefits the breast milk offers.
Finally, it's very important to emphasise that there is absolutely no element of your partner 'competing' with baby when it comes to your milk. Your breasts will produce whatever amount of milk is needed to cope with the demands placed upon them, so all will be fine. But however enthusiastic your partner is, I don't suppose his consumption level will compare to baby's!
