I know there’s a huge amount of threads on this subject but I need some advice.
ive bought one for myself but it keeps slipping out despite it being fully in at the start.
Any tips for helping it stay in which doesn’t involve staying sat down?
Its the wrong size and or shape, this shape is ideal or similar then you just need the right size
I had this recently with one of my plugs, and I came to the conclusion that the problem was that there wasn’t a big enough difference in the size of the neck versus the main body of the plug. Really, really annoying.
Can you link on which plug it is you have.
I agree with what's been said already. It could be the plug v neck size ratio.
I have a metal plug similar to the shape of the one linked above. It's big and heavy, but due to the very slim neck does not budge. And I've worn it out without issue.

The girth at the widest part compared with the girth of the neck really isn't that different on that toy, it is probably a good toy to get you used to the feeling of something penetrating your backside, but your backside is designed to push things out, if there isn't much to stop it exiting (i.e your anus doesn't have to stretch around a bulb) then its just going to happen.
The first one I tried was https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=32147, at only 3.5inch around its pretty small but there is enough of a bulb there to stop it coming out unless you actively try to push it (initially anyway). From there, i moved onto the lovehoney glass one https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=32887 with a 4.5inch circumference, a little more challenging than the rollplay, but still quite doable for a beginner. Neither of these popped out unexpectedly during use.

I made a bunch of with a specific one all about how to choose a butt plug.
I have to agree the neck size is too close to the size of the rest of the plug.
Something else to consider is what feeling are you hoping to achieve? Deeper penetration or fullness? This will have a great bearing on the size and shape of plug that will best suit your needs x
