Lube is really important so get the medical grade sterile type. LH sell some and you can get the NHS type on that big American online shop. Keeping things sterile is sooo important so Iād recommend buying sachets of lube. Lube in tubes has a shelf life and can get contaminated. I wash my sounds first in a tea tree oil soap ( any soap will do ) and then boil them for a few minutes. Let them air dry and cool down. Keep washing your hands.
Personally Iāve found the typical black silicone sounds too rough, or at least not shiny enough. Not like the catheter that got me interested. They tend to pull and feel like theyāre getting stuck which Iām not so keen on. YMMV
So I aim for surgical steel.
My main set is the basic surgical steel Hegar which are graded by 1mm along their length. So if one end is 5mm the other is 6mm. Iām not sure how economical these are as I only use 2 out of a set of 8, but theyāre not too long and gave me some confidence and sizing info while starting out.
You can buy similar sets of the Tulip design .. which is like a bulb on a very thin rod. These are next on my list.
Thereās Guyon and Van Buron sets which are solid, smooth, long and have a pronounced curve at the end. The Guyon being the most extreme and most expensive, designed to more closely follow the shape of the urethra. These sets very much are medical devices. Iāve not tried them and by all accounts they require some skill and patience to insert and remove safely.
Then Iāve got 6 and 7mm solid beaded ones with a 30degree ish angle at the end. Theyāre about 26cm long and can get as far as my prostate. I prefer these beaded over the smooth ones. 7mm is the biggest I can take.
My current favourite, which I wouldnāt recommend, looks like steel bearings strung together, from a certain auction site. This is 6mm x 35cm and will reach to my bladder becasue its so flexible. While its my favourite, its regular stainless steel rather than the much safer surgical steel and Iāve no idea what the cable/tie holding them all together is as I canāt see it and thereās no mention. I would hope thats stainless steel too. So I donāt know how safe it is and Iām on the look out for a replacement. So far its the only one that goes deep because it can get smoothly round the bends and smoothly comes out again.
There are a whole range of half length and smaller that are only designed to go as deep as say the length of the main shaft, or only to the frenulum. These are often made with cockrings to hold them in place. You donāt want to be losing the small ones. Experiment at your leisure.
Coat the sound with lube or use a sterile syringe to put lube into your urethra.
I find its more satisfying than exciting.
Remember to pee afterwords to wash out the lube.

Iāve never had an e-stim cage so I suppose it depends on how its wired and where the contacts are. Iād be questioning your power box. Should be a really smooth transition between levels and totally under your control.
There are contact points on base , if I remember correctly one on top and one on the bottom . Lube helps contact for current flow . While moving the contact point may pull way just a tiny amount , when making contact it will spark and sting like hell .
