Hi, was wondering if any other women have issues with regular condoms causing them to be a bit itchy/sore afterwards? I don't have a latex allergy and have had the same issue with the Durex non latex ones so I don't think that's causing it. Could it be the lube on them and does anyone have any suggestions about what to try?
I used to get this all the time, and also tried non-latex which was worse. I've found that thinner condoms without any ribs, dots etc, tend to irritate less (as well as feeling better). These are the ones we mainly use at the moment http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=26096 and you can get 3 packs for £9 atm, although you'll probably just want to try one pack first! I also haven't had any problems with these http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=32297 which are also in the 3 for £10 deal.
I've had reactions like that with lube, my advice will be try a different one. http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=7164 This is a great and cheap option, else you can lookup "Sliquid" or "Yes" lubes on here and give them a try, they both give me no irritation :).
It could definitely be the lube that's on the condoms - do you ever experience itching with other lubes? Either that, or there isn't enough lubrication and friction is causing irritation. You could try using a water-based lube with your condoms to reduce friction in the area.
I used to find that Mates or Trojan condoms were best for me - could be worth experimenting with different brands :)
I get this with a lot of makes, I then got got picked as a tester for some EXS Magnum large ones for Lovehoney and they were great and didn't irritate me at all. Just gone to purchase more, and they've been discontinued :(

As PurpleHeart said its likely to be the lube that comes with condoms. Not sure what the solution would be as it’s a bit of a mood killer and potentially bad for the condom to try wiping it off and replacing it with something like Yes Lube: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=12167
Maybe just using a good amount of Yes Lube would dilute the negative effects.
