well, I had it fitted on monday and I am still experiencing a bit of discomfort from it. nothing too painful, just uncomforatble really with a few spasm like sensations. I just feels like a little 'pressure' on my lower abdomen. Is this normal? haven't checked the threads yet as I want to give it a little time to settle down without aggravating it too much and I am too scared.

just checked for threads after my bath, can't feel any and I can't feel much 'pressure' as I did before. I am not panicking and have called my gp to hopefuly get an emergency appointment to get it checked. I don't think it's fallen out as I am constantly checking especially when I got to the toilet. I no the threads can curl around and not always be felt but I can't feel a thing, and everything feels the same to me 'up there'! The doctor must've cut them really short, she said I could probably feel about 2cm of them but maybe it's my fingers that aren't long enough?

I have to say that nearly a week after having had the coil fitted now, I thought it had finally started to settle down. Until this morning when I was out with my family, experienced a sudden onset of severe period cramping. Of which litlle or none was had up til now apart from just after the fitting. Confused but I suppose it was to be expected considering, and I can't say that the hospital didn't warn me! I am not due on my period for a least 2 more days and am always regular and fairly light. with very little and often no pain. In fact they are much better now than when they were during my 6+ yrs of taking the pill.
After successfully making it to boots without keeling over, I managed to get some feminax to calm it down, which has worked to a certain extent but it's still there niggling me. When I finally got home, I noticed that I am bleeding slightly, so obviously my period has decided to come early, but although light still, it has been quite painful so far which as mentioned is unusual for me. The hospital told me it is one of the side effects of the coil, and should settle itself down in time, but I still can't help thinking I want it taken out, as having to put up with this every month is'nt worth it for the sake of just using condoms for a few mins/hour at any time even though they are just as uncomfortable?!

Ronnie, I was all over the place for like a month or 2 when I first had it fitted.
However, then it settled down and I don't get any problems apart from the odd cramp now and then.
I do hope it works out for you. However, some people just don't get on with it.
Fingers crossed,
MM xx
