They must have improved the testing in order to be able to mail the sample in . Back when I had the testing done a month later , they wanted it "fresh off the tap" .
Yeah this was all done via post. It did take them a few weeks to get it out to me after chasing them up. Mind you with everything that is going on, I can imagine testing some sperm isn't exacly high on their list fo things to do haha
When I had it done they did mention going to pick up a sample pot, taking it home to do the business then bringing it back within 24 hours or something like that. But Corona has put a stop to that for now.
I've no idea how long it'll take for the results to come back, hopefully soon though.
After 3 kids we're thinking about doing this but are concerned about horror stories we've seen online about men who are left in long term pain with no way of fixing it. Has any one actually experienced that?
No, but I think that would be a strong reason to get it done by a specialist such as a urologist or other similar surgeon who knows the inner workings of the testicles intricatly.
I had mine done by a doc who did little else than vasectomy's (even had a personalised plate on his car VASMAN), he used the no scalpal technique. Was in/out in about an hour or so (including time for the local to take effect).
There will always be exceptional cases, but I don't know what the stats would be for good, average, bad or horrific results.
Agree with Senator , only have a urolagist preform it . The horror stories come from general practitioners that tend to not remove enough plumbing . most of the bad things you hear are also from not taking it easy enough for long enough . Worst story I have heard was guy who went HORSEBACK riding the day after !

I had concerns about tubes reconnecting and possible accidental pregnancies down the line, but the doctor actual showed me the bits of tube that were rmoved (about 1cm each) and explained how everything was sealed up. Hi gman80, I got the snip just before Xmas 19. Got it down by specialists at nearby local clinic. It was so quick, back out within the hour. Recovery was slow though, the opening took 8 weeks to heal properly, even with paper stitches. Was it worth it, DEFINITELY. No fear now of unwanted pregnancies, can have fun with the wife whenever it feels right, no going for condoms etc. My sex drive was high before and hasn't been affected at all, if anything it's helped increase the missus libido, and boost her confidence. This thread has been quite reassuring to read through again as it’s been something I’ve been thinking of.
Think it might be something I do next year as not sure I want to be going to GP or other NHS place while the winter flu and Covid situation seems to be ramping up.

Anyone who ever mentions thinking about it to me i recommend they do it 100%! Like said before the pain is 1 week tops, then many “releases” before you can be tested! So that was fun too
When I had it done about four decades ago , part of the fun was Dr telling us to have some fun the day before . Doctors orders , you must comply ! Plus we were given instructions to shave my scrotum . The wife did a top quality job , Dr laughed and said you only needed to do the front . That was the first time I had been smooth down there . That started me being shaved all under . I am still testing for amount and viscosity and am happy to report after the many gallons produced over the many years , still working good . I did not have any pain , only a little discomfort for 2-3 days . Before my vasectomy we called my cock “the staff of life” , after we referred to it as “my sport stick” .
Had it done took longer to prep the procedure no change for me except no more kids the best money spent you walk in and about 45 minutes later walk out just don’t pick anything up you will drop it quickly rest up about 4 days and back to work
I am now in my late 50s and had my vasectomy in my twenties, never looked back or noticed a change in things sex drive still high and all works as it should.
