Get it off ! Support thread

After much deliberation we decided to form a thread about losing weight with the aim to feel better about our selves without being judgmental in anyway. So without the lycra unless of course you like it here it is a support thread for those who want to lose the pounds but still enjoy life to the optimum.

It will be a thread about tips and ideas including yummy recipes without the fat , support and motivation .

No starting weights need to be stated but perhaps the pounds you lose would be good to state to inspire others.

.

I have lost 2.5 stone in 7 months, simply by cutting out wheat (mostly), eating fruit for breakfast, a balanced diet, eating 3 main meals a day and cutting cut added sugars. I also walk 8-10 miles a day x

Love the title Mysteron. I am currently working on keeping a consistent work out schedule and often work and home life demands get in the way so I have been doing the following:

1. set 3 alarms on my phone through the day that is "get up and move"

2. walk around the block or walk up and down the stairs in my house

3. or do a few reps of squats or lunges and repeat for 10 minutes.

That way I get in 30 minutes movement each day no matter what!

That's a great idea! My advide for people wanting to loose weight would be:

- Alimentation! : eat healty! No need to keep yourself from eating sugar of other things, instead, eat more vegetables, drink more wather (instead of juices or soft drinks, this will have a huge difference), eat smaller portions, make yourself food.

- Lifting weights!: a lot of people think that iloosing weight is all about cardio but it isn't! this will help you inscrease your metabolism and burn more calories when you're not exercising. This also helps burn calories while doing the exercices.

- Finally, cardio. It's always good for you. Interval training can be very usefull because it burns more calories and in the end, you ran for longer.

- Start slow (can be 10 min once a week and then you go for longer and more often), you can also split your trainging

- patience!

Wish you all great results!

Also, if you have a samsung phone, use an app called S Health......it tracks your daily steps, you can put in water and food intake etc, tells you what calories you are burning by how many steps you do. all you need to do is keep your phone in your pocket

Iphones have that too (the health app) and it's indeed a great way too stay active and healthy!

I'm down to 17st 0 lbs from 18 st 2 lbs, started on the 4th January. My best friend is trying to loose weight too, so we message each other on Mondays with our current weight and progress up or down each week. Monday is a great weigh day as you have to be good over the weekend.

I'm down from 18 stone 6 pounds to 14 stone 3 pounds as at last Thursday.

I weigh myself in the same spot on the same day at the same time every Thursday without clothes .

I think the latter is important as clothes can distort your weight by upto 3 pounds .

My next stage is to start toning and deve lop my abs.

I started slimming world on tuesday..iam a very big girl..but my body despite being only 5ft 5ins can carry it off well..iam 19stone 6ibs..but i fit into size 18/20/22 ...i have no health issues and even the doctor thought i was 3 stone lighter than iam...its not a good thing as i need to lose so much weight before i even drop a dress size so i get dishearted because it takes so long to see a difference..i wish i looked what i weigh because then i may of stopped it before i got so big..will be lovely to have support here and in group..xxx

Just keep it up .Your partner will see the difference but it will take s ome time. I havn't had any support from my partner if being honest but now it's beginning to show with a much flatter tummy. Now she can't keep her hands off my torso. So just keep at it.

Wow that is fantastic. I'm not sure I will ever get to 14 st 3lbs, I have not weighted that little since I was 17.

What are you hoping to get too, if yo don't mind me asking.

@mummymermaid you'll get there, don't feel disheartened. Losing weight slowly is better than dropping it within days. Slimming world is brilliant and once you reach your target weight, you get free membership for life!

You have a beautiful shape, I wish I had your shape. I'm 5'10" I have wide shoulders, and size 10 feet. I have no hips but my boobs are my saviour. I wish I had a waist, a shape would help me carry weight better.

I'm counting my calories on my fitness pal :) I've lost 2 pounds since Monday, I weighed myself twice this work because I'm changing my weigh day

I think what people don't realise is that they eat a high carb diet but do minimal exercise.

If you eat high carbs, you need to exercise it off. So eat a balanced diet of low carbs, if you aren't into exercise

Well done everyone I'm still on change for ever, over to soya milk now for tea and coffee, had bowl home made pop corn, chocs are for weekends only and about six or eight only. All jeans now need a belt. Pretty underwear still being worn.

Mamz I'm wandering if you know the answer to something I've been trying to work out lately (pun intended). As a woman is it better to do fewer reps on a heavier weight or more reps on a more manageable weight? I've been going to the gym a few times a week mostly to improve my general health but I am overweight so if the pounds drop off too I won't complain. Just haven't been able to change my diet yet, no will power :(

I would say more reps on a manageable weight and then work your way up. Don't strain on something heavier x

I always struggle with my weight but I've recently lost 16lb. I started at the end of January. I'm using my fitbit charge hr and find it really motivates me to move.

Thanks for the thread mysteron. I need the support. Weigh in is Wednesday for me and I have 7 stone to go. 😳

Thank you Blueeyes82 :)
Congrats to all those that are doing so well! You're all inspiring me to try a bit harder. Fantastic idea for a thread mysteron x
