Help for a daft bint with a work crush ;-)

A bloke once texted me (after a lengthy and varied text convo) and just said

"Is it me or do we seem to be flirting?" I simply texted something like "Don't know, is that what we're doing?" and it went from there. Was bold but did the trick!

Boobaloo's idea was good - get a group night out again and if things are going well, seperate yourselves from the group

Hmmm. Can lead to gossip and what not though?

As for the actual topic...

I think texting is good. Let's be honest, most of us are pretty busy people or at least we have plenty of fun distractions we could potentially engage in and to be texting at least you're more interesting than Call of Duty, wanking or BBC3.External Media

Could you not just subtly tell him you feel like you need a night out and letting your hair down? See if an offer occurs?

The gossip is a good point actually on the group thing.....

He is an intellectual type, you'd like him WandA, his texts are always full of interesting stuff, and websites he thinks I'd like, which I have yet to get a minute to look at, this forum and the OU are responsible, haha!

I sort of mentioned the night out, and he said he was a miserable git with poor social skills etc etc, he doesn't usually go on work do's at all so this backs that up, haha!

See, too complex ;-)

why not just ask him if he wants to go with you for a coffee at lunch time rather than making it a big thing and asking him out, if he says yes then you might find he suggests something while you are out, or you could suggest something from there.

Good idea and I wish I could do this slightly easier option, but we never have lunch together cos we do different jobs and he does diff shifts.... I really am just gonna have to ask him outright and bite that god damn bullet.

Thanks TL, long time no see, you ok? I'm just gonna have to ignore my nerves and internal alarms and ask the question aren't I?

I bet you all think I'm totally daft, haha! Thanks for taking the time to reply

maybe he was hinting that he would prefer to do something just the two of you.

If he is sending you links and stuff it sounds to me like he is trying to impress you by sending you stuff that you might like.

I would just bite the bullet and ask him for coffee at lunch or something, he might be more comfy with a quiet thing at lunch where there is no pressure for it to go anywhere else after, or to drink and socialise with everyone else, if he isn't one for nights out

Sounds like the kind of guy who like a girl and never ask her out. All the more reason to take control :D

just read your reply about not been able to do lunch times, coffee on the way home from work might work to, no pressure for it to go anywhere else

And I'm very well, thankyou, MTC.

Send that man a text soon! x

Oh I hadn't thought of it in the "trying to impress" me way, bet he thought I was a right cow when I said I'd not had time to look at them, oops..... Best rectify that, then it will give me something to start the convo about and I can ask him for that drink.....

*Steels myself*

Thanks Boobaloo

We do, we really do. It's great for a guy's confidence, especially if like MTC says he feels awkward towards going out for works dos etc ( he sounds a little shy and in need of confidence ).

Hehe... I'd like him? I feel like an internet dad!External Media

Ah. Awkward sod. I probably would like him, he sounds like me.External Media

Perhaps suggest a more subtle night out, go for very casual then? Say you could do with a night out to relax from your busy OU stuff but away from hustle and bustle of a large group. You just need to get out the house etc... Play up the workaholic you are while you are doing your OU stuff and make it obvious you'd like a little break!?

Glad you're good, have seen some of your posts recently, nice to see you back around.

Is a text a bit cowardly or easier? Hmm.......

Right, so we think he might be flattered and he might like the ego boost, whilst I'm quaking in my boots, haha! But yes has to be done...... Probs wont see him now all week, haha!

In my book, it's texts to start with. If he's shy and (not want to make sweeping statements) a bloke, then he won't enjoy talking on the phone. Heck, I know very few people who can do it with ease.

Yeah I think you would, he has similar traits to you, haha, luckily he's not a red tho External Media

What do you know of 'Art & Letters Daily' or the 'Daily Mash' and I think 'Spam readers daily' or something like that..... They're what I need to read apparently, haha!

Subtle and needy is good, a quick meet up on the way home or half way between our houses......

Aww guys you're all fab for making me feel able to do it *booby hugs*

You do realise that now you have started this thread you will have to ask him out

we are all going to be checking on you now to see what he said

Well we have started the text thing, and he's good at replies, and each one ends with a kiss, haha! I wouldn't ring him, I'm crap on the phone in that context, lol, I was just gonna go for the out and out ask him when I see him at work next....

Lol, just think of the sympathy I'd get if he said no External Media OR the big cheers if I actually did it, and he said yes External Media

I agree here!

Peer pressure, sorry, democracy compels you to ask him out!
