You can upload photos when you reach Trust Level 2 (member), but it only takes about 15 visits, reading a bit, and throwing some Likes about, so it’s not too gruelling. You can find more info in Trust Levels, and The Great Big Photo Guide

And if you want to edit your first post to add something other than the default text, you can open it up in edit mode by clicking on the pencil icon:
