I’m in my mid twenties, but due to life circumstances, bad mental health, not leaving my house ect. (I’m working on it), I don’t have an ID or bank account. I live with my family, and would rather them not know about me buying a sex toy. What I’m concerned about is that lovehoney products are meant for 18+, and I’m assuming they verify that in some way, right? Or does the ebay store not do that? Ebay’s policies doesn’t say anything about requiring ID for sexual items. I don’t have a way to verify my ID, and the idea of the postman asking for my ID terrifies me. It seems like in the UK, there’s no age requirement for sex toys, but lovehoney seems to make a point about it, so I’m not sure if it’s different.
I’ve never ordered anything adult before, so even just having to verify my birthday would look very suspicious. I’m just worried. I’ve wanted a sex toy for over a decade, but have never been brave enough to buy one. Now I’m working up the courage, but the idea of it going wrong scares me. I want my privacy. I just want to click order, maybe even with gift cards to make it even less obvious that I’m buying something (I usually order things from ebay, amazon etc., so my family wouldn’t be suspicious of another parcel,) and then have it arrive in a completely discreet box, and take it into my room, and everyone is none-the-wiser. I can’t explain the anxiety I’d feel if I got the tracking info and it says something like ‘ID required’.
I just want full privacy, and make it seem like it’s just another package, nothing suspicious and naughty going on.
I have not purchased anything since 2025 but I have never had to confirm my age. I use a credit card to pay so may be that is their proof. If proof is needed.
If you have no bank account how were expecting to pay?
There isn’t a minimum age for buying sex toys in the UK. There is a fair amount of censorship online and so a lot of sex toy sellers will have to have notices about the content being aimed at 18+, despite it not actually showing anything directly sexual.
I don’t shop on eBay anymore so couldn’t answer if they have something on their system that requires ID, but Lovehoney’s website doesn’t.
You won’t have a delivery driver ask for proof of age. If the company you are buying from needs ID, they will deal with that before dispatch. The only time delivery drivers might ask is if you buy age restricted products via deliveroo/just eat etc
Worry not, the postman defo won’t ask for your age verification as they wouldn’t even know what’s in the box
A lot of these verification processes now offer a photo ID option where it’ll take your photo to assess if it thinks you are over 18… as part of people’s rights they can’t demand anyone to share their bank or passport ID if they don’t want to…
Your post reminded me when I was working many years ago arriving at an office with 3 ladies. I walked in and I heard mention of a toy. It was just before christmas and I said i’m needing a toy for my nephew and what was this great toy. They explained it was probably not suitable for a 7 year old, more like a 20 year old would find it beneficial. @hornyhotwife50
