How to know where to start ?

I have a Bullet that last year I asked about using due to hubby working away but it really doesn’t do anything for me so looking at the site today and simply where do I start what’s good for a beginner as such in solo play looking for self pleasure when left to her own devises I need a release Please

I think a lot will depend on why you didn't get on with the bullet. Could you tell us a bit more about what toy it was, and what you didn't like about it?

I just didn’t get anything from it if anything I found it more irritating it was just a simple bullet from another reputable website but I didn’t find it enjoyable or pleasureable

Bullets are varied. The less expensive ones aren't all that powerful and have a frequency that a lot find buzzy. However if you invest a little more for a rechargable one you may find the results completely different as the vibration frequency is more rumbly. I can recommend the new Lovehoney Ignite 20 function bullet as a great first try, then they get more expensive, The desire bullet, the Mantric bullet and the most expensive being the Tango. All apart from the last are silicone and this adds a touch of softness that you don't get from ABS plastic bullets. The Tango is the an exception the shape and quality of the head and the lack of silicone easily make it the most powerful and rumbly.

Not all bullets are created equally, so you may find that if it's a cheaper, battery powered little thing then it simply isn't powerful enough for you. If it sounded a bit like a mosquito whine then it could be the frequency is too 'buzzy' for you, and you may prefer one with a bit more rumble and 'growl' to it. The material also plays a part too. Mrs Chimp prefers the feel of silicone toys to plastic, but other people are happy with either.

If it's a case of you not being into clit toys (they're a great starting point for most people, but every body is different so everyone can't like everything equally) then you could look at insertable toys. Either vibrating g-spot style toys, or non-vibrating dildos. Glass dildos are great. 👍

Does this help you narrow it down at all? 🙂

If you are looking for internal play then I can't recommend this product enough. It's amazing value and comes in a range of colours. https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=41205

I agree with what others have said about bullets - not much to add about them. I find a good rumbly one (Desire, Mantric, Tango) an essential bit of kit, especially combined with a g-spot vibrator or glass dildo.

A couple of suggestions:

1. Are you looking for clitoral or internal toys?

2. What do you enjoy most during sex with your partner, and what sort of toy might be simulate that?

3. Use loads of lube with toys, because there isn;t the same 'foreplay' as with a partner (water-based if the toys are silicone)

If you can give us some pointers on the first two suggestions then I'm sure we will be able to recommend something. Remember that, at Lovehoney, if a toy doesn't work for you then you can exchange it for something else which costs the same.

Currently the Deal of the Day is the Lovehoney Rock My World kit https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/deal-of-the-day/.

You can use a promo code to get it cheaper (some are listed here https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/community/forums/sex-toys/1863488-anybody-else-waiting-for-a-better-promo/)

It's pricey but it there's a lot to explore there.

This is one of my favourite clit toys; https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=27581

With this glass dildo; https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30946

It took a long time for me to figure out what I liked though. I would suggest trying something silicone as a lot of women enjoy the feel of the softness from the material

My recommendation would be to try a rabbit as they aren’t the best selling vibrator for nothing. Alternatively I do love a life size suction cup dildo and my fingers. Just bought a wand and that also does it for me. Lovehoney has a great range. I would try a wand first but beware you will soon want to buy others try 😂

Thanks everyone for your advise I think internal maybe a better option for me so I’ve bitten the bullet so to speak and bought the triple tickler but also added a rabbit as thought I’d give both a go I’ll let you know if they get the results

I hope you enjoy them. 🙂👍 Rabbits can be a bit tricky as everyone's anatomy is slightly different so they don't always fit everyone the same. However, there's always the Happiness Promise if you try one and find that it's not the right one for you. 👍 You can read more about it here:

(It's not 100% no quibbles, but it's a pretty good safety-net nonetheless).
