For a couple of complicated reasons, wife and I are in the very early stages of going through the IVF route for having any more children.
For obvious reasons, there is a tonne of info provided by the hospital and online for women - what to expect etc.
Can't seem to find much, if any info on the sperm collection process. I know what is physically expected of me - abstain for a couple of days before providing a sample in a room whilst wife is having eggs collected. That's kind of it. As you would expect, very clinical.
We are referred to Guy's and St Thomas in London.
Does anyone here have any experience of this? Did you approach it in a strictly clinical fashion or did you find a way of making the experience rather intimate? What was the room like etc?...
Been through the whole process, albeit in a different hospital. Basically I was given a small jar and shown into a room with a selection of porn mags and DVDs. Not sure if partners were allowed to participate - didn't ask.
I guess you could bring your own material, perhaps something prepared by your partner as a surprise.
