Wanted to start a thread because I am looking for your examples, ideas and suggestions on how you incorporate lingerie as outwear / part of a fashionable look?
There are times I wish I could find more ways to wear my amazing lingerie in a subtle way as part of an outfit suitable for public.
My first experiment with this was wearing my Lovehoney lace racerback minidress as a shirt layered over a black bra with a jacket over it.
I think that's a great way to show off lingerie! I've been meaning to look for a brassiere in a balcony style, something I can wear under a deep v-neck pantsuit so that just a triangle of lace peeks through :) Haven't quite found it yet though!
A skirt, hold ups and a suspender belt make for a great look. I like the look that seems to be just normal tights for the most part, but one little flick or bend and a flash of suspender is visible. It's a winning look for me, ust wish I had the confidence to wear it out more often :)
I really like the way shorts look with hold ups and a suspender belt, though that's really not suitable for day wear, probably better for going out.
I also really like cage bras under a fairly low cut shirt so that the cage bit shows without the bra itself showing (or under a sheer top, but again that's more of a look for going out). Only works with cage bras that have the decor between the bra straps though. Though low cut arm holes with some of the bra band peeking out is also a cute look.
I have a cage bra I wear with a black chiffon scrappy top, from a distance it just looks like more straps on the top but it's def more of a going out look. I'm teaming it with skinny jeans and boots next weekend for a party and I can't wait x
I like the idea of wearing a corset over a sheer shirt with tight wiggle skirt and killer heels, or jeans for more of a day look, I think it can look really feminine and classy, just haven't found the confidence to do it (outside the bedroom!)
Corsets over shirts for the win. Years ago when I used to go out for the nightlife shirts and corsets were all the rage. You used to able to buy the combo. They looked amazing and felt amazing too. I think I had 3 or 4. I still have 2 in my wardrobe just incase I manage to get back in them. I doubt it VERY much but I cannot part with them!
I love my treasure me longline bra. Its just stunning! I tend to wear it under a Lycra vest I have. Its plain black low scoop with thick straps. The lace is proudly shown and a hint of purple at the cleavage. It also looks great under my sheer shirt.
I have not had the best luck with fashion corsets fitting but love the concept.
I have an open cup one... maybe over a peasant blouse
That sounds awesome and with your figure its gonna work xxx
+1 - You would look amazing in this. I would love to try to wear lingerie like this, I do have a waist corset myself, so I may give it a try. I've never really thought about it before. I do love to wear stockings and suspenders when I'm out in public or hold ups - it's like my little secret and makes me feel more confident xx
The lovely Lovehoney Dani comes into work wearing http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=33912 with a pencil skirt sometimes. It looks absolutely stunning and I wish I could pull it off!
We do have quite a few pretties these days which you could incorporate depending on how comfortable you feel :)
I saw a review not long ago with one of the Teddy's being worn at a music festival which is also a fantastic outdoors idea!
I don't see it quite so much now but around here among the student particularly I have seen a lot of skinny jeans with a chemise or night dress over the top, and ladies with small busts are doing it bra less too.
At first I thought they had got out of bed in a rush and just shoved their jeans on (hair looking like dragged through a hedge backwards too). But I guess it's a fashion thing.
I do have a black top (pj top) with satin on the shoulders that I wear out with a bottle green knee length skirt, but I know this isn't quite what you mean. It's as close as I get to underwear on the outside.
It's never occured to me to wear a teddy or a chemise as outerwear! I think I'd need a bit more confidence to do that, but it does sound like a good idea

You could wear them in conjunction with a tailored jacket for that classy ,smart but feminine look .
I use to ware a corset with a shrug style cardigan and you jeans out covers arm Jean made casual and could see the details still of lingerie without looking to exposed

Some of this depends on where its being worn . For example slip dresses whch are basically as I see them, are nothing more than a glorified slip normally worn underneath a dress but designed as outer wear. Even these you perhaps wouldn't wear one at the local but could perhaps could be worn at a party .
A while ago I wore http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=31032 (Lovehoney Love Me Chemise Set Black) on a night out over a very simple black bra, tucked into some skinny black jeans, + jacket. Was a great way to show a little bit of skin without having cutout sections!

I think wearing bodies and teddied tucked into jeans or a skater skirt is a simple and sexy way to do the underwear-as-outerwear trend, or harness bras that show a little bit of strapping above the neckline of a top looks super-sexy, too!
Cami tops also look great if you wear them layered under a blazer or smart jacket, particularly if you get a sliky satin one, or one with a lace trim, because it gives the impression of lingerie without leaving you feeling too exposed, and as RosyCheeks said, a longline bra with a highwaisted skirt always looks great. Slip dresses can be a bit of a tricky one as a lot of the time, they can look like you just wandered out in youy pyjamas, but I've got a black one that's quite simple with just a lace trim that I wear with a denim jacket and ankle boots to dress it down and balance the dressy/casual look. Also, kimonos and robes are a sexier alternative to traditional cardigans or cover-ups, particularly for a night out - I love the Flaunt Me Lace Robe for exactly that reason.
We've got some great underwear-as-outerwear shots on the Lovehoney Lingerie Instagram account, too, if you're looking for a little more inspiration.
