met partner on a dating website?

Ok going to throw this out there
Intrigued to see if anyone actually had any success using this modern tech to find a new partner, rather than Old fashioned legwork;)

Not personally, but I know lots of couples who are together via internet dating. With varying success rates, but I have definitely seen it work out for the long term as well as for short term fun.

I've seen them work long and short term.
Just be careful!

We have friends who met through a dating website and have now been happily married for nearly 10 years! Just make sure you are careful and take your time. Consider taking a friend on a first date or have them sitting nearby and always stick to public places to meet :) xx

My prob is my best mate lives 1 hour away, with a kid and partner.... So far she is my "safe" buddy.... I text her when on a date, and keep her in loop where we are and such...
Still want to find a new beau.... Being single after 20 years in a monotonous relationship is tough to break into it again.
Social circle is small. And even then all married...
Damn diff breaking the ice...

When I turned 18, I signed up to Gaydar. Within the first week I was messaged by this hot guy who had just moved to the area. Turns out he lived on the street next to mine. We had our first date a week after signing up - and that was 10 years ago. We're now married. So it can work!

I met my better half online over 5 years ago, it definately works.

How do you get over that embarrassing hurdle of the first contact though.... My first dive in did sort end up as a whirlwind sexting and 1 week later the real thing....
I did throw caution to the wind, but was bloody good fun!😇
I did find that side of me quite liberating, but I would like to try and catch a fella for a bit more than having sex( fun though that is!)
Simply need to work on do I drop the 1st message or does that sound a bit forward?
Damn my late in the day dating expertise;)
Didn't go on it to end up being a sexter, went on with all intentions of getting a possible date... The sexting ended up being a rather surprising buzz......
I'm a " naughty mum!"

Met my husband 18 years ago, not on a dating website but in a chat room forum type thing. My brother met his now wife on the ... I think "the Times" dating .. some broadsheet newspaper anyway, a friend did the same and is now in the 7th year of that relationship, husband's sister is dating from an online something or other. Another friend has had a few dates from plenty of fish but no success, but I don't think it's ... ya know ... where ya go looking for something long term maybe. If I was single I'd be a member of all of them lol

Lol..if I joined them all I would not do anything else. 😉 already spend too much time here and pof

I met my partner of 5 years via a friend on Facebook :P

As a future teacher.... I don't do Facebook.... Plus I think my ex is fishing in that pond! Don't really want him tripping over me in there!

I met the love of my life on Omegle of all places :P I wasn't even looking for anything but friends, but i've had the bad online relationship experience too wit han ex who after a while became very emotionally abusive, thakfully that one stayed long distance, this one just moved to an hour away, and this summer it's on the cards to become a physical meeting, and boy i cannot wait, good luck, you really do find the best people when you not even really looking!

NM,

Met my OH via a dating agency; 30 years ago after a divorce 5 years years earlier. Met a few females before my OH and had a number of non-sex dates.

The agency worked for me as they provided a number of potential mates for socialising; meals out/ in, cinemas, theatre and so on. I was in no hurry after I had had my financial testicles well and truly chewed. I joined an agency as it was not easy to meet females in my job of that time.

As others have posted - be careful and take your time.

Good luck, you have a lot going for you.

I use dating websites a lot. I have met my past 2 partners and had great relationships with them. Sadly they just didn't work out 1 had to move due to his dad being very ill and the most recent one was dealing with depression and just wasn't in the right frame of mind for a relationship.

Don't get me wrong I have had my share of AWFUL dates too. Like the 1 of has just got out of a 10 year relationship. We started talking the day day after they had split up and then went on a date the day she moved out!!! I found this out at the end of the date when I went to give him a hug and thank him for a lovely time he burt out crying. Or there wan another guy who was 35 and he went mental at me because on the 1st date he asked if I was on the pill, when the answer was yes he said great we don't have to use condoms. To wich I replied no condoms, no sex. I hadn't even decided if I wanted to go on date No.2 yet!

My mum has done internet dating in the past she was with 1 guy for 3 years and is now getting married to the most wonderful guy. I have never seen her so happy and in love. They get married in September or 22 weeks and 3 days as she told me this morning! haha.

I have met my hubby in FFImpulse (which is now Empyron).

We were friends for a really long time (more than 10 yrs) before we confessed our true feelings. We were dating for almost 3 yrs before getting married. Been married more than a year now. During those years when we're friends, I've there for him when his relationships didn't work out. Just seemed yesterday when he was shyly telling me his feelings for me. He's gone to work now, miss him already.
