As much as I was worried (having never dealt with anything like this before) letting go and comments like @NaughtyHoward’s has reassured me. One day at a time, I’ll get back to normal ![]()
And to be honest the games haven’t felt the same for a while @Mr.MrsW - I remember around Christmas/New year time last year with @CurvyJilly @WillC @Long-John-Silver and others (it got really crazy at one point and we was all doing over 1500 replies a month on the games alone)
Even @Simon_101 joined in ![]()
A mighty brave step for you, big hugs and really pleased to hear your boy is out of hospital and home again ![]()
Like you say, there is no manual for these things so the best you can do is what you feel is right in the flow of it. But from the sounds, you’ve managed to navigate this last so many months well
hopefully everything going forwards will be easier now.
Stay strong @Stacy2 you can only build better from now on. Love and hugs to you ![]()

Thanks for remembering me S2, I’ve not played the games and stuff for a while, I got a bit fed up with the forum and some of the bragging etc to be honest when sometimes things aren’t 100% here.
Anyway, enough about me, hope you are bearing up. Take some time for yourself at the moment and have plenty of rest.
The past isn’t “down the drain” at all, please don’t think that. It has made you who you are today, even if it wasn’t perfect like a fairy tale.
Stay strong
@Stacy2
You will come out the other side a stronger person.![]()
Yeah, I agree with that, I think we could all think well I could’ve done this or that the past 10 years. It’s either stuck being in a relationship or stuck being single or stuck in one situation or another. I think it’s this constant fear of missing out on one thing or another, the grass is greener on the other side, it doesn’t help sometimes hearing about other peoples fantastic lives but that’s just one side of it!
Plus, you had your son as well , and surely some happy times and some nice holidays from the sounds of it as well! X
Our lives dont come with instruction manuals, it sounds like you’ve done the best thing for yourself and your son.
WELL DONE. You are stronger than you think you are, and your whole life is now ahead of you! Keep the toxicity behind you and go find some fun or someone who genuinely wants the best for you with nothing required in return.
My apologies, it was emotions and how I felt at the time, fueled by two bottles of wine; but to be fair, without them, this post would still be sat in my notes and I would still be pretending everything was great.
I’m much better today. I did some retail therapy with my bestie, which is always nice. I’m getting straight back on the horse because being single isn’t for me unfortunately ![]()
Be careful about that, you have the excat same mind as me, I think you need time, also it could be confusing for your little one.
It can get messy when you jump ship and straight into another one.
Of course we are all different so it might be what you need.
And I totally get the feeling of the past down the drain wasted.
I might just be that different person @teacake. I won’t rush into anything. And of course I will always put his needs first. But being on my own is driving me crazy. I’ve a lot of stuff to sort out so it won’t be immediately.
I’m going to move first (closer to my bestie) and go from there. I’m greatful someone else understands how I was feeling.
I don’t want to hold onto the memories if that makes any sense ![]()
I went through the stage of not wanting to be alone, because just like you I was in a long term relationship 18 years and a parent we’ll 19 years but we won’t count that lol, I thought single life wasn’t for me.
I’m now so glad I didn’t start dating I needed to find myself reinvent myself, it would of been awful in a new relationship for me and whoever the unlucky person was, it woudnt of been fare on the other person.
You only get to think like that when you are fully healed from the relationship.
I was on dating places then I thought about it, now if I was to meet someone it would be the old fashioned way.
Stacey I really hope everything turns out fine for you and your boy. I remember another member of the forum going through a break up @The_Little_Ladybird the last we heard i believe she had found new love and was very happy again. She has not been around much but i am sure she could give you lots of positives. Good luck, all the best going forward.
Its great to know you are still around @The_Little_Ladybird I hope you didnt mind me mentioning you in Stacey post. How are you / things going.
@steve19 how kind, Im glad you did tag me.
I am actually very very grateful that my ex was brave enough to end our marriage.
I was honestly very emotionally unwell and was just existing in a delusional state where I used sex as my only out for the “true me”.
My best advice is to talk, get it all out. At first maybe sad or angry, irrational even resentful but it passes. One day you WILL stand back and it will all make sense @Stacy2
I had to learn to be ME for probably the first time in my life, it was terrifying and amazing.
I am very happily living with my Partner now and our relationship is not without up and downs but I am grateful for him every day.
Lastly my Dad would tell you “Look after those who look after you”.. meaning choose and put your energy into people who do the same for you xxxx
Oh @Stacy2, so sorry to hear this. I’ve had more than my fair share of abusive arseholes over the years. Toxic relationship always seem to come my way.
Until now. I have the absolute opposite. Keep looking, keep your eyes out for signs, and go find yourself the man you deserve, who loves you like you deserve. ![]()
I 100% agree with @Simon_101 that it’s not down the drain, and you definitely have not wasted ten years, @Stacy2.
There surely must have been some good times, some real connection, otherwise would you have been together for so long? And (assuming a little bit here) you have your son from it, too.
It was hard to see the light for me when my relationship ended. But actually after a time, the darker memories faded, and I can talk about the good times with my children about their mum without feeling like I’m only saying it in a positive for them.
Not that I’ve forgotten them! But to riff on your post title, that’s an old chapter of my life, and I can’t keep re-reading it, otherwise I’ll never complete this next (wonderful) chapter I’m currently in. ![]()
wow, you must have been legless.
a bottle between both of us is enough to make me unsteady !
I’m okay with red wine @Simon_101. However I did wake up with a sore head the next day ![]()
Sorry to hear the news, it’s sucks. But typically you end up happier and better off. Small comfort now, but having been in the same place I know you’ll end up happier and in a better place soon.
