Hi all we are going to Prague in a few months
Any tips and hints of where to go and what to do. Thank
Hi there.Couple of things which may be a little different but well worth a visit.
Vytopna Railway Restauraunt on Wenceslas Square.A cavernous bar which brews its own beers and also serving food all delivered to your table by a model railway train. Can be described as a tourist trap but we had 4 pints of beer, bowl of fries, pot of home made chilli dip and cost was approx just shy of £20 English making it good value i thought.Walk ins poss but booking advised on busy times.
Saints Cyril & Methodius Cathedral.A few minutes walk from centre but well worth it.It is the Cathedral as featured in the film Anthropoid with Cillian Murphy where the Czech agents made a last stand in 1942 after the assasination of Reinhard Heydrich (The butcher of Prague). You can enter the crypt where they hid out for many days and also view many artifacts. The bullet holes in the wall are still very much in evidence outside, worth watching the film before you go.Enjoy your visit,i’m sure you will.
Obviously you will be going over Charles Bridge but it’s especially good on a sunday where you may catch a jazz band or two as well as the One-Man Bands.Over the bridge on the way to St.Vitus Cathedral Castle which is also a must as you get stunning views outside looking over Prague as well as in you have quite a few steps to climb. However,on the way up is probaly the oldest pub in Prague.According to my Czech friend it opened as a tavern in the 1370’s and has remained as such ever since.Good photo oppurtunities here both inside and out (you will see what i mean) and is called U Krale Brabantskeho, well worth a visit, maybe on the way back down those steps
