I agree that sometimes I get frustrated with the PIV-man-woman-centric assumptions. I love oral sex with other women and I don't remember ever thinking "Oh, wait, this is wrong, we need a man and a penis or else this is just messed up". Mostly I remember thinking "Mmmmm, yummy....". :D
Personally I prefer a human-being-centric approach to sex and relationships instead of a genital-centric one. :)

I tend to say 'play' as well actually, as it can describe pretty much any activity, and the emphasis is on the having fun and exploring aspects...

No worries External Media. It's just a personal thing I suppose, for me the connotations are such that I don't feel comfy with the word, but it probably means different things to different people. Also with the whole 'foreplay' thing, I have some issues with the idea that sex or play has to be orgasm-focussed as well, so it doesn't make sense for me, personally, to use the word.

I agree with the foreplay posts. I don't really refer to oral and stuff as foreplay, it's just sex. If I intentionally gave oral to turn her on then I think that would be foreplay. Oral for the sake of loving it! Is just sex.
I'd define foreplay as anything that gets you hot! Mentally and physically, so for that reason I think even sex can be foreplay (probably with a bit of lube!).
