I've said it before and I'll say it again - get a Smoothshave! It's absolutely fab, very small and handy and leaves you smooth smooth smooth. It is expensive and I wasn't convinced at first but I'm so glad I bought it!

You just trim trim the hair down with a clippers/trimmer then dust it with baby powder and go for it. You can use it EVERYWHERE with no risk of nasty cuts! Pain free hollywood - bargain!

Where do you get these from hun?

Sadly LH don't stock them anymore and smoothshave.co.uk seem to have sold out of them. It was about £45 for a trimmer that takes the hair right down and the actual Smoothshave which make everything so nice and smooth! Maybe one of the mods will know why they don't do it anymore or where you could find one?x

Thank you hun, I'll look into it, I get a really bad rash from shaving, and I didn't like my wax

This is the set that I have although it wasn't this expensive. I got it from a different site but just thought you might like to see what it looks like etc.

Again, thanks hun, it looks good and worth the money

The only smoothshave I can find is this one.

Is this the one you're on about, littlebird?

Yep Mucky, that's it. That's the kit that I have. It's out of stock there as well, maybe they have had problems with the manufacturer or something. What I would suggest though is that if you can get just the Smoothshave on it's own then do that as the little trimmer that comes with is very similar to the ones you can get for a fiver in Superdrug etc.

I already have a trimmer, so the smoothshave on its own would be better

I shaved off all my pubes yesterday for a picture shoot, and god, it feels good!

It is erotic to do the deed in the bath I found, using just a razor and bubble bath, came out all smelling of almond oil.

Someone on another hair removal thread recommended the Magic products (comes as a cream or a powder) which are geared towards hair removal for black guys. I've never been able to get over shaving bumps - happens with shaving and waxing, despite daily exfoliation, tea tree oil, Savlon, etc etc, and always left me feeling (and looking...) like I had the pox (lovely picture for you all there :-) ). I got some Magic cream from eBay, and it's totally brilliant - far superior to Veet or any of the other depilatory creams - and best of all, not one single ingrown hair :-) :-) :-)

You do have to leave it on for about ten minutes, but unlike other creams I've tried, it neither stinks nor stings: I know Veet tells you not to use it on the perianal area, but for goodness' sake... You can also get it in hairdresser supply shops (I'm sure there's a proper name for them: those shops that sell equipment for salons) and also specialist Afro hair care shops. It's a couple of quid, lasts for ages, and has solved all my bikini area problems with one fell swoop. Like I said, i've forgotten who recommended it in the first place - but they have my undying gratitude!

Shaving intimate area with a razor:

1. Choose a bikini area razor like the curved blade http://www.body4real.co.uk/product.php?productid=17793 or a specific bikini area razor, don't use an ordinary safety razor. Opt for a good quality razor rather than a cheap disposable which is more likely to cause nicks, soreness and razor burns in this sensitive area. 2. Trim pubic hair first, especially if it is thick and long. Use a bikini trimmer like the http://www.body4real.co.uk/product.php?productid=17949 or small safety blade scissors to trim down the hair to about half a centimeter. Trimming the hair will make shaving much easier and will avoid blunting and clogging the razor too quickly. 3. Wet a face cloth and lay it over the pubic area for a couple of minutes. Alternatively, take a hot bath or shower and making sure your pubic area is well soaked. Due to the coarseness of pubic hair, softening the hair before shaving provides better results. 4. Apply a generous amount of shaving foam or gel over the pubic area and leave for a few minutes to soften the hair further. Ordinary soap is not suitable as it does not lock in the moisture to the hair the way a shaving preparation cream or gel does. Experiment with different brands if you find some cause skin irritation. They contain various chemicals and you need to find one that suits you. 5. Pull the skin taut with your free hand and then shave without applying pressure. 6. Shave upwards against the direction of the hair growth. Make sure there is sufficient shaving foam or gel on the skin each time you run the razor over your skin. Shaving bare skin can lead to razor burn. 7. Rinse the razor every couple of strokes to prevent clogging. 8. Rinse off the pubic area and look for any remaining patches of hair. Repeat steps 4-7 described above. 9. We recommend applying a product like http://www.body4real.co.uk/product.php?productid=17859 on the bikini line after shaving. It is particularly good if you suffer from ingrown hairs and other post hair removal irritations. Make sure you avoid applying this product directly onto genitalia. 10. Keep the shaven area well moisturised between shaves by using a skin moisturiser or baby lotion. This will reduce the uncomfortable feeling of stubble which may occur between shaves. 11. After your skin has become accustomed to shaving, try applying a thin layer of Vaseline petroleum jelly instead of a shaving foam or gel. It will give you a really close shave. 12. You may want to consider using a hair inhibitor product like http://www.body4real.co.uk/product.php?productid=17832 to reduce the frequency of shaving. It can take some time before hair growth reduction is achieved, but it does make hair softer and thus easier to shave.

Oh errr missus, it was a pasted article, it looked ok on the bottom reply box! Sorry folks! Feel free to delete!

Im with englishrose. I got the magic product from ebay and it really does work. I was very suprised as I get really bad regrowth iches.

The only problem is my mum threw it away not knowing what it is and so I had to shave the other day which is so not nice. ( I shave with the growth as its less painful).

This is when I do shave/wax whatever this is the first time since oct and everytime I say never again lol.

we got some hair removel cream from morrisons it worked a treat on the oh. she always said shaveing made her itich but this dosnt

Has anyone seen these hair removal pads on pitch tv? I'm sure I've asked before but I can't remember if I got a reply and f I did, i cant remember what it ws lol sorry.

These pad thingys anyway, you do it in circular motions one way and it exfoliates you then you reverse the motions and it removes the hair(supposidly pain free) it looked like it worked on the tv but I know what these companies are like having ordered some things before off there

Got to agree with needing a hot bath or shower before, I'd tend to do it in the bath and it really does help to soften the hair up. Just use a normal 3 blade razor, making sure I use a new blade because sharpness really does matter, and washing it off after every stroke to try and avoid clogging. Have tried shaving against the grain, and while it is smoother the resultant bumps and itching mean it's not worth it.

One thing I would say is that for guys it's a slightly different prospect shaving because:

  • most guys don't shave their legs and often have a "treasure trail" which begs the question of where to stop
  • testicles are really not easy to shave. I don't know how easy it is for women, but the male anatomy doesn't lend itself to easy shaving

Only other issue is maintanance, guess if it's being licked enough then there's motivation but it's a lot of work staying smooth if your partner isn't that bothered about it.

I adore the treasure trail (better than snail trail!) and so for me, I think some guys who are pretty hairy, are better to keep the hair on their privates and just trim it. For less hairy guys, they have the option to remove it as well. But I love hairy chests and the treasure trail and would take that overly hairless balls any day! Each to their own though!

Oh, and don't forget the exfoliation after shaving, don't know why but it seems to really help, 5 minutes of redness then no ingrown hairs or anything.

Body brushes are essential and help cellulite too!

How do you exfoliate please?

I get quick re-growth and would like toknow how to keep it in check.
