Mrs W here ……

It certainly did something to a lad when we were on the Prowl today @steve19 from a group of scaffolders came a wolf whistle and then one of them approached and said “Thank you, you look lovely and have brightened up such a dull day” …. could ‘ave knocked me over with a feather….. it was all I could do to give a coy smile and mumble thank you…… Oh boy did that brighten me! couldnt wait to text Pen

The ones in our office are made on the premises each morning @Mel3 by the chef in the restaurant/canteen, but until I joined this Company I often succumbed and gobbled a Greggs one down love xx

Spot on there @Craig1234 love xx

Gawd, I am so happy this afternoon - still reeling from the Prowl event :winking_face_with_tongue:  :joy:  :innocent: xxx

@Wurger staff canteen food is the most dangerous as it’s usually part funded by the company. I know this from experience with one of the company’s I used to work for. The food there was excellent both in quality and presentation.

Thank you very much @steve19 but I think he was referring to my bright clothing more than me, but much appreciated Thank you, have a great day love xxxx

You are spot on there @Mel3 exactly why those little sausage rolls look and smell so full of promise - just like Pen - and I know that I wouldn’t be able to stop at just a nibble or just one - same as Pen … have a great day love xxx

@Mel3 @Wurger you may be lucky have a good quality staff canteen as ours are very hitty missy. Working lunches with the sandwiches buffet are nice but when I did nightshift it was reheated leftovers from day / late shift. In the end my stomach couldn’t stomach it much longer hahaha.

Mrs W here …..

Well @steve19 - this is your fault, wear red you said - you could have knocked me over wiv a fevver, out on the Prowl at lunchtime and the same scaffolder says hello again and remarks on my outfit and starts singing “Lady in Red”…. all the boys I was with melted away and I had to tell him to “Shuttup you silly sod” ….. he then went back to his mates…. Oh I walked on 10 feet tall, with my face as red as my skirt……. then the boys appeared again and walked on wiv me…….. couldn’t wait to tell Pen love xxxx

Yes @Craig1234 we are lucky - our chef is a bit classy, although a lot of what he does is spicey, not a problem until there is no non-spicy option, but generally first class gear and nobody in our place does nightshift, so all fresh love xxx

@Craig1234 it was a long time ago and was the only company I worked for with a canteen facility. That was in Yorkshire and the management thought it was better to feed the workforce in house rather than them disappearing to the local pubs for lunch. It was money the company spent well and was only about lunches. As I was leaving them, new management brought in catering from an outside company and things were never the same.

Hi, As I’m new (ish) here, I’m so happy I found this comment. I spotted a few of your comments and badly wanted to ask who pen was but didn’t want to come across as rude or nosey! So Thank you for explaining it @Wurger

My pleasure @Stacy2 …. hope the School-Run wasn’t too bad and you enjoy the rest of the day love xx

Hahahahaha…. ooooo-errrrrr @Latino_Caliente he has actually done that a few times in the past 12 months - and very nice it was too  enjoy the rest of the day love xxx

Oh it really is a great boost @steve19 ….. I tried not to wear such bright clothes today, and we were a bit pushed in the office, so no “Prowl” today…… but the boys did fantastic and cleared a huge amount of work earlier than expected, so the ones that travel by train got to get a train or 2 before their usual and the ones that drive got away 90 minutes early…..

Oh, thank you so so much @steve19, that is such a lovely thing to say ….. we are here on this planet for such a relatively short time, we must enjoy every moment - or as near as we can get - and that is what I strive for, at work and at play. Indeed all you lovely people on here have made my life richer by your comments, jokes and your intelligence and wisdom…… I look forward to much more….. you and Mrs steve19 enjoy the rest of the day and the weekend too love and Thank You again love xxxx

Very much so @JGood and our Chef really does try……. in fact he asked one of the other girls here if her portion was large enough - so she replied that it wasn’t so much the size as what he did with it - and because he added cream and ice cream, she said he did very well with it :smiling_face_with_horns: enjoy the rest of your day love xx

Good morning Mrs @Wurger, you and I have the same work ethic. When I had my own business, on some jobs I would put them on “price work”, which gave them the incentive to get the job done quicker so that they could move onto the next one.

Very often, if it was a weekend job, I would give them “job ‘n’ knock” so that as soon as the were done, they could go and still get a day’s wage (I’d already allowed for that in my price)

It was a way of keeping them happy, but when I sometimes needed them to “go the extra mile” they didn’t mind, as I was always fair to them.

Totally of at a tangent here….did you have a chinky last night? If so, what was it? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: xxx

Mrs W here …..

Yep, sounds like we do (have the same work ethic) @Latino_Caliente - unfortunately we are “staff”, so I can only give the boys “bonuses” that are within my control - for instance I can let them go early (but that has to be worth their while, ie early enough to get an earlier train, for example) or some of their small bonuses are “visual” as I have alluded to before :smiling_face_with_horns: - they and I know the unwritten “Rules” ….. all that is done with the knowledge of my boss(es) and they are totally in agreement ………. yes Pen and I had an Oriental take-away last evening - it was Special Fried Rice, a small pancake roll each and stir fried mixed vegetables with garlic….. we use a number of different take-aways - this one does small pancake rolls with meat, beansprouts etc and wrapped in filo pastry - another take-away does very large pancake rolls with deep-fried batter - so choose which take-away according to what food we fancy.

How about you @Latino_Caliente and others, what do you have when using a takeaway? xxx

Yes Mrs @Wurger

I know you aren’t the “boss” but I do know you are allowed to grant privileges and “bonuses”. Back in the day you would have been called a “Foreman”….. or to be politically correct a “Foreperson”

If you have a good rapore with your workers, you get so much more done.

With regards to a chinky, that sounds nice what you had and I like all of it. I love the filo pastry pancake rolls, so good choice by you and Pen.

Mrs LC and I are spoilt as an 8 min walk up the road takes us to a Chinese restaurant where you can get a three course Menu del día (Menu of the day) for about €15. Or a 10 min walk in the other direction we have a Thai restaurant and we can get a plated meal for less that €10…… and very nice they are too.

Just had brekkie of wholemeal toast with soft cheese and a frothy coffee. Off out now.

Have a good day all :hugs: x
