One last mention about the hour ahead..yes we are always one hour ahead of UK time. But, it hasn’t always been like that.
If you look on the map, the capital Madrid, is as near as dammit on the same meridian as Greenwich, which means we should be on GMT.
But during the Spanish Civil war in the late ‘30’s, General Franco became an ally of Nazi Germany and in 1940 moved our time forward by one hour to be in line with Berlin (even though they are over 1000km away!) and therefore cementing his alliance with Hitler.
After the war, all the countries that had made the shift reverted back to their normal times. In their infinite wisdom though, Spain thought it was best to stay as we were! Only last week, the Spanish government were holding talks about not changing the clocks anymore. We’ll see!
Yes, we have retired (I’ll rephrase that) we are of retirement age, but we both work for a charity and now work harder than we ever did in the UK. But, it keeps us “on our toes”

Oh yes, Pen and I have spent a lot of time watching recordings of the “in” places in those heady days of the 1960’s….. places like the original coffee bars and then the Clubs ….…. I wish it was still there when we were old enough to go …….but you are right @steve19 we were not of an age that we could have gone….. even if our parents would have allowed it back then ….. Oh we have heard of Dire Straits, one of Pen’s fave dance tunes is their “Money for Nothing” love ….. can’t yuou build a Tardis and take us all back there love, please

Not to put too fine a point on it, I tend to be a bit stickier. I’d slide off eventually, but not on one acceleration!

Sorry, have a family member in hospital so haven’t had the time or inclination to visit the forum what with work, visiting and running a household, caring for elderly mum etc. Will try and visit more to clear my head.
