Took an early finish today. It has not been a good Friday.
Friend/colleague up north was in an accident this morning. Work van is a goner, but thankfully she is just a bit battered and bruised and not majorly injured. Then literally 10 minutes later had a call to say my grandad has passed.
Hopefully today can’t get any worse. Time for a hot shower and a blanket.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. It was a bit more harrowing than the first one as i had a trainee doing it under the supervision of the consultant that did my first one. It did not fill me with confidence when she asked how to move the light and which button to press when she was going to start the irrigation. First op took 20 minutes, this one after about 45 minutes the consultant took over as the trainee just could not do it right so be had to finish and put the new lens in so i was on the table for an hour and the anaesthetic was wearing off. Thank god that is over with and i have just taken pain killers and hope they start working soon.

Oh my goodness, I know trainees have to learn but that experience would start panic stations in me!
Hope your painkillers kick in soon and you’re not in too much discomfort.
