A reminder about tester items

Hi All,

We’d like to take a moment to clarify an important point about the tester programme and how items are assigned.

Tester products are sent to specific members, based on their individual review history, experience, and suitability for that particular item. This matching process is deliberate and helps ensure that feedback is relevant, accurate, and useful.

For this reason, tester items should not be gifted, forwarded, or sent to other people. When a tester is passed on, it prevents us from accurately matching products to reviewers and undermines the purpose of the programme. It also makes it difficult for us to rely on the feedback associated with that tester allocation.

We know that in most cases, members participate in good faith and follow the guidelines. However, trust is essential to the tester programme. Our ability to continue offering testers depends on knowing that items are being used and reviewed by the members they were assigned to.

Please remember that the tester programme is a privilege, not an entitlement, and continued participation relies on honesty, transparency, and adherence to these expectations.

If you’re unsure whether a tester is suitable for you once it arrives, or if circumstances change, please contact the team before taking any action, we’re always happy to advise.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep the programme fair, reliable, and valuable for the whole community. :lovehoney_heart:

As a tester I feel extremely privileged to be chosen and proud I must do a good job in writing my reviews. Its amazing this opportunity exists.

Well said and we both agree :grin:

Maybe I’m being dumb here and apologies if i am, but gifting to/reviewing with a partner is okay, right? Just I was chosen to review a male masturbator once but… umm… I don’t have a penis, my partner does. Just wanted to be sure!

If I’m signed up to test it, I’m 100% going to be the one to test it. I might tell the homies about its pros and cons before we get in to playing D&D but that’s about all they’ll know of it.

Hell I reviewed a new product (not a tester) only last night and two people know how I ranked it, but nobody else does until I get around to writing my Lovehoney review (hopefully tomorrow, schedule dependent) and my blog post on Saturday. The perks of polyamory

Thanks @Lovehoney_Brenna!

Totally understood! Hope to get selected to test a product soon!

Thanks for all you do Brenna! You keep a great forum here! I certainly appreciate your efforts. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for all you do!

Also…EWWWWWW.

There are a lot of things I will give away if I am not using it any more. Sex toys are NOT on that list. Ever.

If the toy is being reviewed with a partner that has been mentioned in previous reviews, this is fine – we use the previous reviews to match products to people, so this toy would have been matched to your partner via your reviews. Although, it would not be appropriate for the toy to be given to an additional partner who is not mentioned in reviews, rather that the partner that the toy was matched to.

Probably a mad overkill. But my old man used to sell tools.. he had tester/loan tools that would go to garages.

But on the tool it would be clearly etched/marked that this is a loan/tester item. It stopped any tampering or swapping with other items. Probably abit of overkill but if it’s something (weirdly) happening with reviewers items something to deter.

Maybe tester items could come in a plain sealed box with tester item printed on it? And you write the name of the recipient on it?

It’s a shame this is happening as it spoils it for others who are willing and wanting to test a specific item.

I only put my name forward for things that interest me to try…I do think sometimes those who want everything in the list are perhaps not as interested in specific items.

I have no idea how you can vet this apart from maybe a picture of the recipient with the item opened???

I’m not sharing any of my toys around let alone a tester one. I do post about them on fetlife if its a purchasable toy just like my bought toys but the secret ones never leave the bedroom physically or online except for the review.

I get quite a few questions about the toys I post on fetlife and I always include the link.

That makes sense, thankyou for clarifying :slightly_smiling_face:

This reminds me a lot of my experiences on Oiio. I had a big clear out about two weeks and I must have had 4-5 people message me for everything, I’m just like “how does ladies plus size clothes and mens medium size clothes fit the same person?”. I’m so wary since I gave a lady some small clay flower pots once and about a month later she came up on a Facebook group, selling minature flower ornaments made in part with the same pots. I’ve been thinking a lot about this and the only other thing I can think of is people doing giveaways for likes on social media. Not personally how I operate my business, but some people will do anything for popularity.

@Holly_Love I’m very similar, I post reviews on my blog (unless they’re secret twster items, in which case ) but I don’t give away or sell toys I’ve used, they stay or if no bueno, get binned/recycled - the only thing I sell is secondhand fetishgear that has been properly cleaned. If people want products I’ve reviewed? That’s what links are for

@Lovehoney_Brenna totally understood. If im ever lucky enough to be a tester certainly wouldn’t be giving it away :+1:

We’re yet to be chosen to be a tester of products. I just continue to write my reviews on my purchased products, and select what tester products we’re interested in. If I’m chosen for some items eventually then I’ll be grateful to test them out with the OH. Under no circumstances do I feel like I’m entitled to test products.

I’m happy to come onto this forum, just to read some posts, give my opinions or advice on sexual activities (pegging mainly) :joy:, and receive some advice on other things.

Thanks for keeping the forum a safe place to open up about kinks and not to be judged by anyone @Lovehoney_Brenna . Also if you could kindly give me some feedback on my reviews I’d be grateful.

@Lovehoney_Brenna

@Lovehoney_Brenna honestly it felt like such a privilege to be picked as a tester, there’s no way I’d want to take the piss by just regifting what I’d been picked to test. Also, why wouldn’t I want to keep it for mysel‽

Thank you so much for continuing to run the tester scheme, and also allowing the space for new people to come in to it and it not being an overly ‘exclusive’ club!
