If i’m using phone data my supplier won’t let me access porn without verification. If i’m on WiFi at work or on holiday using the accommodation WiFi i can’t access porn as they don’t allow it. Surely it’s not impossible to stop those under 18 accessing porn on their devices? It saddens me that very young kids can access hard-core stuff. I realise that today’s kids are so computer savvy that they can probably circumvent most obstacles digitally.
If you do not see the correlation and forthcoming slippery slope, nothing more I can say will convince you at this point.
To answer your second question, I get on the site I want to view. Again I will be repeating myself to address this question, but giving the kind of personal information online that is required to verify one’s age is dangerous in all the ways I have already explained
It seems more people on this forum are eager to lose rights for the absued promise of some kind of safety than I expected so I will drop the topic. Just remember conversations like this in a few years when you no longer have access to sites you used to enjoy “in the name of safety”
I really dont see what interest there is from a government as to what porn site i want to enter….goodness knows there will be a large section of parliament who regularly access it.
I didn’t need to give my name or address, phone number, inside leg measurements etc.
I used facial age recognition on one site (and if anyone that’s interested can pin that image down to me, well done to them.) and an email received from another to a seperate email address i have. That was somehow sufficient to verify my age.
I haven’t received spam emails and I haven’t been messaged by anyone trying to blackmail me for viewing hertro sexual mature / old nanny porn.
If they want to, crack on ( excuse the pun.)

I used the photo one too. If anyone wants to use my likeness there are easier ways to obtain it.

The problem I’m seeing with much of this stuff is its spoken of in isolation. But its all infrastructure and it will all eventually be tied together as part and parcel of your digital ID. The likes of NWest and Sntander have already started offering a carbon score based on what you buy during the month, and you’ll see the carbon footprint on many shop bought products.
All very good but you know its going to be used against you becasue it can.

There has been a move towards digital purchasing, but I believe cashless is still a long way off yet.
I’ve used a VPN before while browsing, especially for niche stuff like edited by modthat’s harder to access depending on the country. It’s not foolproof, but it helps avoid the annoying pop-ups asking for age checks every two clicks. Doesn’t mean it’ll work forever, though—rules and tech change fast. I also noticed some sites just won’t load properly unless you’re in a region they allow.

So, unless you already have access, PornHub is preventing new accounts from the UK. They’ve decided age verification and all it requires and implies, is too much bother and its easier just to cut off an entire country. They won’t be the last.
