Are these toys generally universal for any size clit? My wife’s is on the smaller side so I’m just wondering what I should get that would work well for her….

Womanizer (all the ones I have anyway) come with two different sized heads. Most women seem to prefer thd larger option. I have quite a small clit, like your wife, and usually favour the smaller but having the option is good. My favourite suction toy, though, is the Melt. This fits me perfectly and, I think, generally is better for the smaller clited among us.

Second the recommendation for the Melt. I have absolutely no idea how my wife’s clit stacks up size wise, but the Melt has been a great fit. It’s a more elongated/ovular opening which I feel like would make it flexible use for folks. Maybe.
From reading reviews, I don’t recall seeing much complaining about the heads being too big, more an issue when women say it fit uncomfortably tight around. Most important tip I think when starting to use them is to not skimp on lube to get the best seal around her clit!

Quite a few of the ones we have bought, come with multiple heads for various sizes. Unfortunately one of the best ones - The Rose, only came with the one head but my wife loves it.
So go with a Womanizer one to be sure.
Never thought of using lube on it. My OH doesn’t seem to have any issues with the one we use but if I can make it better for her I’ll do it. I guess I’ll give the lube a try

No, the lube does not create the suction. The lube can help achieve a better seal. Personally, with my favourite ones I prefer no lube as they manage a perfect seal without and lube just makes everything more slippy and more likely to move off my perfect placement. Definitely down to personal preference, though.

In my wife’s experience just a little lube actually softens the sensation I think because without it the seal isn’t as strong and there’s extra air pulling around/through/under and creating extra points of stimulation, so the lube-sealed tip is a bit of a softener I think? It was more important with her Womanizer Pro40 - with the Melt it’s less critical - I usually just give a lick around the mouth of it to wet it and she pops it on.
But then she also really likes to move it around when she uses it. I know a lot of the reviews of the clit suckers reference “orgasm within a minute” or uncontrolled squirting which has never been her experience. She’s always been pretty aware of and in control of her orgasms and the first time she used a womanizer she described it as “pulling the orgasm out of her” and she got the most pleasure from fighting against it as long as possible as it pulled the orgasm out of her.
