Alternative to rope

I want to tie my other half up for some bondage sex.

She isn't adverse to this but doesn't really like rope.

Can anyone suggest anything else that would suffice? She likes silky\satin stuff but would need to be long enough so I can bind her breasts and crotch rope etc.

Has she said what puts her off about rope?

i read an article a while ago that actually recommended rope for beginners as with satins and silks, they are so thin that a knot can easily become too tight. With rope it always has a chunky element which means that knots are easy to untie if you need to quickly.

If shes adament rope is a no go then you could try the satin restraint sets to tie her loosly to bed posts amd take it from there? Maybe theres a way you could use rope, but if she doesnt want it touching her skin then be creative with what she wears if shes worried that rope would give her a rope burn?

I guess if I could find some nicer rope that would help. I prefer using rope but she just finds it a bit "hardcore".

Have you tried bondage tape? It comes in nice long rolls and you can get it in pink/purple/red which might not look as intimidating as rope.

You can get silk tyes, also the bondage bow by rare assembly is fab

I'm not sure what you mean by "nicer rope" but these are more appealing to me that a rope from a DIY store or something
http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30886 very silky to the touch and finished nicely at ends.

I was thinking that perhaps coloured ropes would be more appealing and less 'hardcore'. I haven't tried this particular rope, but thought it looked quite non-threatening, especially in a colour like purple: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=26516 (doc johnson 10m Japanese-style bondage rope, just in case the link is problematic)

The bondage tapes might also be something to try out. Maybe it would be sort of like a step down from rope and a good way to practice.

Booooondage tape!
It's fun, and way easier to get your head around. Much less daunting too as you can just snip it off if she freaks out.

Colored rope is always nicer than plain imo, but I can't say I'd recommend satin ties or satin restraints. They just slip off.

Cuffs are an alternative option too :)

I think I would stick to tried and tested methods for bondage material. What you don't want to do is use cheap poly type rope, that will cut and pinch and be a distracting experiance. Spend that little extra and have a memorable session for the right reasons. Smaller diameter rope can knot tight, be prepared to sacrifice some and always have a pair of cutters in emergency to avoid injury.

japanese bondage ropes are soft on the skin

Bondage tape or cable ties.
Ok, cable ties aren't silky but they are impossible to get out of! Which makes them purrrtfect! They arent as uncomfortable as rope either.

Bondage tape would be my recommendation. Doesn't stick to anything other than itself and holds well, really easy to use :)

My OH and I have used soft scarves instead of rope as she likes being tied up to the bed

Hi there, as others have said there are softer ropes sold on here, and bondage tape is really versatile too.

This is the rope we use. It feels very comfortable on your skin and comes in different colours too :

+1 to that rope, they're lovely and soft and the pink and purple make a pretty and feminine combination :)

For what you want to do, alternate rope to the one you have (is it itchy hemp or similar btw?) is probably your best bet. Tape doesn't work for crotch ropes. Silky restraints won't bind her chest. I'd go for the rope and see what she thinks! If she doesn't like it, you can still investigate the other avenues and see what you can do :)

I'd like to point out that as you are a novice in the field of restraints, not to use cable ties as they hold a safety risk
