Hi all. I am wanting to experiment anally so have the anal douche and wanted to know how long I’m supposed to hold onto the water before I expel it into the toilet? Are we talking seconds or minutes here? I haven’t actually used it yet, I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before I started. Also is there any chance while inserting the end of douche I might actually catch the inside of myself and cause a tear as it seems quite hard? TIA.

I would say hold it in for a minute or so but don’t fight your body, if you body wants to expel it before then, do so.
In terms of tearing, it is technically possible, but very unlikely. If you insert it slowly, you’ll feel if you are touching the walls well before you do any damage. Also, you don’t want to be inserting it in too far anyway, you don’t have to insert the whole length of the tube, just an inch or so will do.
Hey so for starters always add a bit of lube to the end of your douche for a smooth insert.
Filling the bulb with warm water is good for first timers but if wanting to speed things up colder water works better.
On average try to hold the water in for a count of 10 seconds or until you feel like you need to pass it out.

We have used douche couple of times…. And at first feared the thought or squirting loads of water inside and worried about its use.
Reality was it was really really easy, used warm water , no issue’s holding in and just then sat on the loo and pushed out.

As has been stated by quite a few people above me (thank you all)
Starting off with warm will make for the nicest sensation. Expel the fluid when it feels the most natural (if you’re into very evil predicaments or tortures - holding it for longer can be a very fun game 
Otherwise, warm/cold water is pleasant - and with regards to catching yourself… if you’re worried then lube is always your friend for the way in - for the deeper end - just go slow and gently - there is no need for any sudden movements.
A final alternative is looking for alternative douche heads - there are tonnes of designs in various materials - it is just a case of finding the one that suits you best. (For us… we love metal!)

I just hold the water in until I feel ready to expel it - no need to rush it.
I’m not sure what nozzle you have, but it sound’s like it could be sharp? I have a silicone one that won’t scratch or irritate that area with some lube.

Another thing to note is that you don’t actually need to use a douche before play. I’m sure there’s plenty of threads discussing and debating whether “to douche, or not to douche”.
We have a douche but I don’t think we’ve ever used it. It’s usually pretty clean anyway, especially after a shower. I don’t believe there is anything stored right in the area you’d probably be playing with (unless you really needed to go to the toilet!) Even if we were to use the douche we’d still clean ourselves thoroughly after. And you can bet we’d still have the wipes on hand during play just in case! I’m sure most people will agree that there’s no guarantees that you won’t find anything when it comes to anal play.
Of course some people will feel more comfortable and clean after using a douche, and that’s absolutely okay too.
I’d look for one with a flexible or soft tip, some of them do feel very hard and even sharp. I’ve read that you shouldn’t douche too aggressively as that could be bad for the sensitive lining in there, and if the liquid goes too far you could end up leaking for a little while. Tap water is also a different pH to the anal canal so using it to douche too frequently could cause an imbalance and negatively effect your microbiomes.

Wow I didn’t know that. I haven’t done anything anal yet but don’t like the idea that I may get poop on me so want to douche anyway. I will make sure not to overdo it. Many thanks.

@IrvineTheBigYin funnily I saw this thread I was Just wondering about the importance of anal douching because in my teens when I had sex with men the last thing we ever thought about was anal douching, Now my Wife insist on it in our sexlife but I’ve read articles about it on gay websites and some guys say its not important to them whilst others are horrified by the idea of not anal douching and say it’s a must! So for guys in a gay relationship is anal douching an expected important part of your pre sex preparation?
I’m female and have never douched before bareback anal sex @Yes_man and never had any issues afterwards…but not everyone is the same… know you asked about gay relationships but guess the answer is some do and some don’t…like in all aspects of sex… whatever your sexuality.

I think it’s all just about personal preference. Some people hate the idea of potentially getting a little bit of poo on themselves or a partner. Some people, myself included, don’t mind taking that risk too much. I just go to the toilet then shower afterwards. My OH always tries to check me or toys - she doesn’t like the idea of there being poo anywhere but I usually just try to clean it quickly (if there is anything) in case she feels embarrassed.
I think a contributing factor to the way some people feel about it is that anal sex in porn is always completely clean, sometimes unrealistically so.
I’m definitely no expert, but I’ve read online a few places that the risk of people with a penis of getting a UTI is low, as long as they pee and make sure to clean themselves afterwards. Of course STIs can still a big risk if you’re having sex without a condom.

I’ve only recently started douching myself as we have got more and more into pegging. Been doing anal on the OH for years and never even thought of it - yes there has been the odd bit of poo but as others say a quick clean afterwards and all done and dusted - it’s never bothered me and I would never expect her to douche before letting me in, if I want to play back there I’ll deal with the consequences if there are any!! But I just feel more comfortable letting OH go to town on me when I know I’m fully clean back there - I find it helps me relax more!!

Sounds like you have one of the squirty bulb types rather than shower attachment. My experience is that it’s not a time thing as much as a repetitive thing. Repeat until water comes out clear and then you are good to go (no pun intended).

Oh, ok. If you have the type of shower that is hand holdable, you can remove it and spray it anywhere, there are attachments for anal douche. You just unscrew the shower head and add on the anal plug. I haven’t actually used one but it does seem handy but you are essentially pooping in the shower.
