Annoying Adverts

Absolutely!

Those annoying fucking domino’s adverts that started during Covid.

Still not had one since.

The Pepto one gets me.

I miss the days where there were some good ads (thinking the Dime/Daim armadillo one, Milky Way red car and blue car had a race type ones, Budweiser bullfrogs).

The ones I like poking holes in are the “80% of people loved this product!”… yes, but you only surveyed 10 people so it’s hardly a glowing endorsement is it love?

I find those statements funny too 94.7% of 119 women agreed our makeup was better that ……..

So that’s 112.693 people what happen to the remaining .307 of a person what part of them fell off because of your product.

Exactly! I always wonder what kind of people fall for them!

People must because they’re still making them :woman_shrugging:t2:

It’s similar with the ‘collection’ ones with the first issue at only £x! Yes, but the remaining 51 issues you need to build a tacky model are £10 each, by which point you could have bought a proper model a dozen times over

Yes there was one to build a Batmobile but once you add up the cost of the issues even Bruce Wayne couldn’t afford it!

L’Oreal’s tagline has always irritated me “Because you’re worth it” translates to me as “We charge the earth, but we will guilt trip you into believing that if you buy a cheaper product you’re doing yourself down”

We sometimes do the maths on those collection magazine ones. Try it, it’s eye-watering!

First one is £1.99 then it’s £5.99 thereafter for the remainder of, say, 40 magazines? But look what you get! That’s a good deal, right?

Alright, now do the maths:

(1x1.99) + (39 x 5.99) = 1.99 + £233.61 = £235.60.

I did the maths on the Winnie the Pooh embroidery one the other day, as someone who used to embroider. I estimated I could buy everything for about £50 (including some frames to display my works of art) and still have a few hundred to spare!

@WillC… Absolutely with you on said adverts.

Each of the ones you mentioned drive me mental

I have the occasion to work from home and while I was having lunch id put tv on… Aaaaaggghhhh . Funeral companies, stomach medications, car finance.

Regarding the diversity in adverts, I feel it has got somewhat contrived.

By all means have people from all ethnic groups, but its got to the point that every advert has to have an inclusive aspect to it.

If I was part of a particular ethnic group, i’d find it more than a bit condescending.

Exactly, i find the funeral/cremation one’s condescending for featuring only white, middle class, slightly dotty, heterosexual couples!

I do like to put the Now 70’s, Now 80’s and rock music video channels on as background music, but the endless charity ads do get on my tits! Plus the set amounts they often request are ridiculous!

I cringe every time I hear the advert for the holiday co which is with Paddy Mc’guiness. I always think he is saying Fucking . com com not Booking . com

That Pepto Bismol advert has really got to take the Biscuit ? Bloke lifting his butt & singing “ diarrhea !! ” ??? Wonder if anybody sees him in the street & takes the mickey out of him ?? Embarassment or what ???

That one is so bloody annoying @steve19 and it’s been going for so long those kids must be adults by now and going on holiday on their own!

I must admit, when I first saw it I thought McGuiness was saying something other than booking too

I can just imagine people recognising him in the street and yelling “diarrhoea! “ at him!

A few years ago we used to like watching things on ITV4 such as Carry On films etc and it drove me mad. Every ten minutes I could have spent half my income signing up to things.

Bought the full box set of thirty films for about £15 in HMV, yippee can now watch Hattie Jacques without interruptions

Or censorship!

Adverts???
Don’t get me started…

Image the diarrhoea man being your dad or grandad? Imagine the embarrassment…

:face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye:

The one for fairy non bio with not only the house in matching colours to the packaging but the clothing they’re wearing too…

The “On the beach” as mentioned who would want to be on holiday with them? Who also wants to pig out in the airport just before a flight?

Fancy Paddy McGuinness but that’s another story…

I hate the long winded bed/mattress adverts, just going on and on about nasa technology and 100+ varieties for you to choose from.

Is it more comfortable than sleeping on the floor? Is it affordable? Yes?? I’ll take the cheapest one you have.

I dont change my mattress multiple times a year so i dont need constant adverts!!!

Yeah that Mollie Mae “influencer” idiot supposedly washing towels that are so white you can see they’ve never been used! She definitely influenced me to avoid that product! Also the “keep away from children” warning. How about not making your product in bright child attracting colours?

Domino’s pizza…no thanks I’ll buy a £3 one from Aldi for a fraction of the price!
