Annoying Adverts

Are there any tv adverts that annoy and irritate you so much you refuse to buy their product?

Recent one’s are for a cremation company that uses a particularly smug folk song singing duo and a feckin awful folk song. I would rather live forever or die trying than use them.

One for a car loan company called Car Moolah, nope never gonna use them, would rather walk!

But the worst one is for Pepto Bismol with some atrocious hammy actors singing a very irritating song about diarrhoea and other stomach upsets. I would rather puke my guts up and shit myself than buy it!

@WillC - I find adverts annoying and do whatever to avoid but I hate funeral plan adverts - they are so smug …

Secondly I hate those adverts early afternoon - such as Jane plan (diet meals) and mobility shops - we are not that old …

but I quite like the Pepto Bismol advert as it’s so funny

@WillC agree that crocs are coolest thing since sliced bread and you’ll have an ally in me, but otherwise… :winking_face_with_tongue:

I might be wrong but this might be the only advert I’d watch more than once

If it was an advert

Oh my goodness, I despise all of the ads you mentioned @WillC

As I’ve mentioned on another thread, I record nearly everything in order to avoid all this tosh but I have had to suffer when I’ve been watching TV at a relatives house.

Here’s a few that I hate:

Angela Rippon going on about smart meters and doing gymnastics in her kitchen.

The Felix one with Robbie Williams…. say no more!

The Fairy washing powder one with that smug woman who’s entire house, her clothing and her kids are decked out in white.

And, I’m not being heartless here but all the charity ones that try to guilt trip you into donating set amounts by direct debit.

Any of the depressing cancer ones.

Oh and that really rubbish one about some cremation service or other with that bloke laying in the bath while his wife talks to him about arranging their funerals through a crack in the door!

I might sound a bit odd here, but I detest adverts so much, that we don’t watch telly apart from BBC (if we have to). For the past couple of years we have paid for youTube premium, and its worth its wait in gold.

Commercial radio is even worse, so we only listen to R3 & R4 nowadays, even the presenters are too energetic on anything else.

Oh, we don’t go to the cinema or buy papers either. Real ignoramuses here !

We don’t buy papers either and I’d avoid watching the news too if I could!

Yeah and despite all the adverts being diverse and inclusive which i have no problem with, it’s only the cremation adverts that feature mature, white heterosexual couples, as if everyone else is immortal! :joy:

Agree with most comments I detest the Sun life advert, a sure way to lose money for sure. The funeral plans are very bad as well. I would say thank you to the BBC but i’m getting annoyed there as well as they put so many adverts on about their own programes tthat have already been shown but are available on i player

@Simon_101 @wildflower I also don’t watch rhe news. I used to get myself so worked up over it all and most things (apart from covid lockdowns) don’t impact me. It’s better that I don’t know who’s willy wanging at whom than worry about what happens next!

I haven’t seen a advert for years mainly because I have a media server that skips all those annoying adverts. Time to disable it so I can join in

I am pretty detached from the world and most of the time I’m in my own world… apart from when I’m in here.

I’m just thinking I think adverts have got bad over the years, is there any funny adverts these days like there was in the 80’s they were worth watching.

@WillC oh absolutely with you on that damned pepto ad. I grab the remote as quickly as possible to mute or change channels, but unfortunately a recent change of television means a remote with which I’m still not fluent in button placement, so I’m all ten thumbs and panicking. That :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: diarrhea guy keeps beating me to it.

And that on the beach one with the loathsome family and ‘the most wonderful time of the year ‘ playing. I swear that lot have been torturing us for close to 10 years now
