So, wanted to clear up the confusion as I legit had absolutely zero idea that “gooner/goonette” also refers to supporters of Arsenal (which actually explains a lot of weird interactions I’ve had on twitter hahahaha) though, in the context I was using it in, it’s people who edge for hours and hours, letting it block out every other thought or feeling as you sink deeper into a porn-, edge-, and lust-fueled trance state of bliss and pleasure. Which gets me to what @Kitty-Cat01 was saying about, “well, duh, as you get closer to cumming it’s gonna dominate your thoughts and you’re not really gonna want to think about something else! That’s not a “trance” that’s just you about to cum.” Which is a completely fair response and somewhat right but also misses a kinda key element of “gooning”… time. The whole point is to stretch out your edging session longer and longer each goon session until it takes up an entire day (and sometimes more) of constantly riding on the precipice of cumming, backing away just a little bit, and then resuming your daredevil act of walking on the edge of a proverbial towering wall you’ve been building with each pump/rub. Basically imagine taking that feeling of pure ecstacy of edging, turn it up to 11, and dedicating your entire existence for that day to the pursuit of holding yourself in that pocket of bliss as long as you can. It’s kinda like a sexual version of meditation almost.

It’s usualy used interchangeably with terms like “pornosexual” or “porn addict”, though I kinda take issue with the entire notion of “porn addiction” as a thing when it’s seen as totally normal to binge watch an entire multiple season spanning TV show in under a week or so and isn’t seen as an “addiction” but if you switch even half of that time from a TV show (where graphic violence is a-ok whilst anything sexual is demonised and avoided at all costs before the watershed) to adult entertainment/porn it’s all of a sudden no longer just entertainment and fantasy, it’s a “porn addiction” and you’ve got something wrong with you. But that’s a whole different can of worms to open up and discuss that can be left for another time hahahaha.

Also, when it comes to the subculture (and the people who make it up), a few of my favourite aspects of it are:

1- It’s a super accepting and open bunch of folks who love welcoming literally almost everyone (with the caveat of course being harming others/rapist/pedos etcetera) into the fold and create content for them. The embracing of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities, especially of the Trans or NB peeps and making stuff for them/celebrating them, is legit something wonderful to behold and is something more subcultures could learn a thing or two from as the attitude really is “if it’s between consenting adults, everything’s all good with us”.

2- There is a huge emphasis on the ethical consumption (ya know, paying for the media you consume just like music, movies, tv, or games) of porn and adult entertainment/services within the community, particularly when it comes to patronising and supporting your favourite stars, creators, or studios so they can not only make a living off of their legitimate form of labour (sex work is still work after all) and continue creating stuff you enjoy. As a result, some of the studios have been starting to make media catering towards goons but the actual actors/stars have really been highly active in the community when it comes to making things to appeal just to gooners/goonettes and, what I really love, genuinely interacting and becoming part of the group. The two examples that immediately jump to mind are Angela White and Ella Hollywood (a trans star) who are both active members of a whole bunch of goon-centric discord servers I’m in, as well as on other platforms. They’ve both commented on how many people in the industry in front of and behind the camera know and talk about the subculture and that quite a few of the actors have alt accounts to originially see wtf this group was all about and ended up loving the vibe and genuinely became a gooner/goonette themselves!

3- It’s a very, very creative community, like, fr. Everything from making Goon Captions (basically posters kinda to encourage and cheerlead you in your gooning), PMV’s (porn music videos), hypno/trippy psychedelic videos, music, audio porn for those with visual impairments (or just to listen to hahahha), drawings, comics, writing, a fully-fledge (mostly ironic) religion/church called Pornism with central tenets, and a whole lot more to explore!

Goddamn! I did not realise I had written so much but I hope it clears things up a bit for all y’all and that you might check out the subculture even if you think it’s not gonna be your kinda thing!

That sounds really cool :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. Im just learning to edge but its alot of fun.
they’re a great bunch on here, and very welcoming so im sure you’ll find some like minded folks.

I dont have long stretches of time to edge for sadly, but Id definitely like to try getting into a trance state like that again.

I have actually come across some of the captions, discovered caption porn several months ago and its really cool. Didnt get the refernce before though, so it should be fun if i run across some again.

Wow! That’s awesome, I didn’t know anything about it! Thanks for enlightening us.

I hope you didn’t think I was being rude, it was a genuine question and I was trying to say that what I feel before orgasm is normal and not at all trance like and therefore not what you were talking about. Now I’ve re-read my post I can see that it could have been interpreted as me playing down what you feel by saying that it’s normal when actually what I meant was the complete opposite- what I and most other people experience is not at all trance like. Hope that is a bit clearer :woman_facepalming:
