My measurements are 38/34/39, which in Lovehoney tables makes me size 16. I also have Dorothy Perkins blouses in size 16 which fit me perfectly.
But I seem to see more and more measurement tables (here on the website) that put my measurements as size 12 - 14. Is that accicdent (possibly caused by different sizing systems in different countries being involved - I don't know where Beauty NIght is actually produced (this table is a case in point: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=34718), or is the UK going the same way as the US with sizes getting bigger - i. e. yesterday's 16 is today's 14 (and will be tomorrow's 12)?
Mystical Mayhem my husband bought me a stunning corset, didn't realise it was dispatched from China. He felt bad as it was the biggest they done (size 16-22) thinking I would be upset it went up to 22. I float between a 16 and 18, not much boobage on me. It went 1/2 way round me pretty much! Should have bought 2 and joint them!
I do think they are. I have ten year old size 10s that I can barely fit into, then size 10s were comfortable and now, when I am actually bigger, I keep finding I need an 8.
I think a lot of brands are vanity sizing. I wouldn't mind if they would just be consistent!
The answer is yes. I cross dress and when I first started buying my wardrobe I found size 14 usaully O.K. Things are so much different now, it depends on where you go different manufacturers seem to have a different idea of what a 8,10,12 etc is.
I cannot understand why ladies clothes stick to this rediculous system. Why can't skirts and trousers be sold in waist sizes like mens clothes. Tops sold in chest size like mens. Underwear is also a minefield, bras are sold in chest size 34, 36, 38, etc but nickers in size 8, 10, 12, etc WHY.
Now when I am buying, I take a tape measure with me so when I get home I am fairly sure my new clothes will fit. Sorry Lovehoney but I don't buy clothes from you because I have had a couple of items from you that have not been the right measurements, despite ordering my usual sizes.
I am so glad I am not the only one that has trouble, it is about time the fashion industry got it's act together.
This is one reason why I hate clothes shopping! If I go into a shop and like a pair of jeans, a dress and a top, I need to try a 10,12 and 14 of each (this is without going into leg length!). Lots of places have a limit on how many items you can take into the dressing room so it usually ends up with 2 or more journeys.

some places mainly outlet stores don't even have a dressing room, don't understand why. luckily in these places i've picked out something out in my size and it's fitted when i've got back home.
I'm size 22/24 in Chinese but uk 18, how wierd is that, but don't mind now. It's just labels now.
That's actually not weird at all, because the range of sizes (and the cut of the clothes) is adapted to the people living in the country for which the clothes were manufactured. In theory there's one size difference between France and Germany - a French 44 would be a German 42, because on average French women just are smaller than German ones. In practice it's often enough two sizes. And as I have wide shoulders, I haven't managed to find any French blouses that fit me - if I try a 46, the shoulders may be wide enough, but there's also room for much bigger breasts and more belly than I have.
I guess it all made sense when people spent their life in the country where they were born and bought clothes made in that country. With international travelling, moving and commerce things are getting so difficult that I absolutely hate to go clothes shopping!
