Well last Friday I decided to surpise my partner buy wearing some new nipple pasties. I wore them for a few hours at most and when I took them off the shape of my areola on my right breast had been exstended/ stretched/ anyway something strange. It reminded me almost of a love bite marking but different. I thought it would fade but it's still there. It's a lighter colour to the main areola but over the week it's developed a very similar texture to the orignal areola tissue.
I'm finding it a little odd that a simple piece of body tape did this. It was a little harder to remove than some, but even when I've had reactions from body glue and tape before it's only left a rash which has gone within days.
Anyone else experienced something silimar?
My left breasts areola has stayed the say which now makes both breasts look odd when compared together. Both areola use to be very small circles compared to most peoples, they didn't look 100% the same but close enough. Now ones bigger and stretches upwards and not really cricular at all... I'm wondering if it'll change back maybe in another week or so, guess it could just be a bruise.

Changes in the areola do need keeping an eye on. It does sound like it's a reaction to the tape - if it continues for a day or two see the doc on Monday :)

I did have a little think about it last night and I don't think it's a reaction to the tape, as normally things like that clear up after a few days even in sensative areas. I did think that maybe the tape contained latex but even a rash from latex often goes in a few days too, sometimes the rashes scab and blister but this is different.
Guess I better go and get it checked out, been meaning to go to the doctors regarding a few other things anyway. Probably nothing, might be something I've just never noticed before... somehow.
Though I think I will try not to use any free tape provided with items such as pasties. I have gravitape and it never seems to cause problems, but tend to use the free tape you get with pasties as gravitape is rather expensive for me to keep buying.
Though now I'm wondering if I should avoid using nipple toys such as suckers until I get it checked out.
Oh does anyone know if I have to see a female doctor regarding this? Or would I still be able to use my normal doctor who's a guy? I'm often very nervous around women and due to this have always found it hard to pay attention to female doctors because of how scared I am. So I've always made sure to have male GPs and things, but I've never had anything of this nature need checking before.
Nympho you can see your normal GP, they all have the same basic training and will want their patients to be comfortable,

Also if you go to gynecologist, you can choose a guy? My home gynecologist is actually a guy and I feel a bit more comfortable with him than with the previous who was female. He is more sensitive than she ever was.

You can ask to see a male gynae when you get referred or sometimes you get a list of a few you can pick from so you'll know if they're male or female (specialists usually go by Mr. or Ms./Miss./Mrs. rather than Dr.)

This is really complicated! In the UK physicians will be Drs whatever their speciality. Surgeons go back to Mr/Ms/Miss/Mrs once they qualify as surgeons by passing surgical exams (they can still call themselves Dr if they want - but most choose not to).
Obs & gynae is a bit different as once they pass their senior exams in obs & gynae they can go back to Mr/Ms/Miss/Mrs because obs & gynae is classed as a surgical specialty, but without them having to sit the same surgical exams as surgeons. Again, they can choose between Dr/Mr/Ms/Miss/Mrs (and often opt for Dr).

Odd though - I saw a knee specialist who was a Mr.
Rheumatologist may have been a Dr. though, can't remember.

In my home country its easy to see who is female and who is male by just surname. Female surnames have (in about 98% cases - it is automatic at your birth, you have to ask them to officially let you get rid of it) ending -ova or -a at the end, guys never have it.
Well I went to my GP and came back with some anti histamine's for the mark, and some anti b's for a sweeling which was also found. If both don't go in the next week I'm to go back. The person said that it's unlikely it's a reaction to the tape as it would have gone down for now.
I hope it will be all right, but yes, I guess an alergic reaction would be gone by now, although it can take couple of days to disappear (last time I got insect bite, it took about 3 days for swelling to go down and I was taking medicaments to get it under control), but over a week is unlikely.

Thanks SL and Laveila, I'm sure it'll clear up soon. I find it a little strange that I didn't notice the swelling before and redness, I do try and check my breasts often but find it hard as I only have one small fixed mirror right now and need something bigger to do appearance check.... really need to get a new mirror. The doctor noticed it striaght away and seemed concerned, while I was more concerned about the appearance of my areola. I also feel a bit like when Charlotte in Sex and the City found out her Vagina was depressed. I have a poorly breast, I'm use to getting meds for things that affect more of how your body feels not a single part/ area.
The anti b's last a week and they are rather strong. I've read through my BNF and done a little research and there's more side affects than most I've taken before. There's also a list of very common side affects, common, usual, etc lots of lists anyway.... So I hope I don't get any of them. Though it might be my fault for asking for anti b's that aren't in gelatine, I don't know though.
I still think it's best to avoid all body tape that I don't know what it is made from. I should have put two and two together really as plasters can contain latex and so can some tapes. Though it's still unknown if the tape actually caused the areola to change shape/ get bigger, and the swelling is in an area where no tape was applied.
But anyway I'm rambling :)
