I currently live in a country near the equator where it never snows and it’s “summer” all year long. Now from hot the weather has turned into “very hot” and everyone is complaining and switching on their air-conditioners. My questions are;can I buy condoms beforehand and store them for some time? They say “store in a cool and dry place” but in this worsening weather should I avoid putting them in drawers and then closing them, for fear that the weather might damage the condoms? Most importantly, should I buy the condoms only on the day the sex takes place to avoid damage from the hot weather? But I still need to transport the condoms to the location in which I’m meeting someone,so do I avoid putting them in my sling bag or my wallet? Sorry for asking too much. ![]()
I was advised not to put them in a wallet at risk of damaging them.
As for a storing in a cool, dry place. What about a bedside cabinet out of the sun. Should be cool and dry in there.
Store them in a fridge?! ![]()
Does that really work?If it does,I’m open to trying it. ![]()
I never really thought about it! What kind of temperatures are we talking about? Could you contact the manufacturer and ask them?
They will be ok short term, just not in direct sunlight and for long periods of time. It’s only when they’re kept for months in the warmth like in people’s wallets that can damage them. When I was single I used to keep a condom in my wallet ‘just in case’ and unfortunately didn’t need them that often. When I did actually need it, it broke. It could also be worth looking into polyurethane condoms, there made for people with latex allergies but may be less likely to be damaged by heat
I’d guess depending how hot it is there then it’d be less likely to melt in a fridge
but alternatively maybe see how they are displayed out in the shop as surely manufacturing would have taken hot weather into account when making their products durable
I just took a shiver because of this ![]()
The temperatures are 29°C to 31°C. But yeah, great idea to contact the manufacturer. I guess I will.
Fridges aren’t dry storage as you can get condensation
How about putting them in an airtight container and putting that in the fridge?
Ask at your local pharmacy what they advise.
Could be quite refreshing with how uk humidity is at the mo ![]()
