Under the new set-up, is there any way of muting specific threads that you don’t wan’t to see?
I see there there is a way of ‘muting’ discussions but what about specific threads that you have no interest in and just get in the way?

You can Mute topics, users and categories. What are you trying to hide and I’ll see if I can have a look if one of those will do it?
(I can’t work out where you’re drawing the line between ‘threads’ and ‘discussions’?)
ETA: I’ve also added a bit of extra info into Category and Topic Notifications? that you may find useful.
I realize with the revamped format terminology is up in the air so I reverted to the 90’s.
Let’s suppose I never wanted to never see ‘Anyone Level 2 yet?’ as a topic/thread ever again but still want to see off-topic chats as a category (if that is still the correct term).
Can that be done?
For me the obvious thing (using old school tech from the 90s) would be to right click on the subject title and have an option to hide but clearly I am out of touch
I think you want the Topic Controls box at the bottom of the particular Topic (thread). It’ll have Watching/Tracking/Normal/Muted as the choices.
If you set it to Muted it’ll ghost away from your page never to be seen again. (but if you have to fish it back out again you can find it in your list of Muted topics in Preferences->Categories)
And if it’s me you’re trying to hide you can Mute a User too (or Ignore when you’re at TL2).
Thank you
Now if only there was a shortcut to scroll to the start of a conversation/thread to change the status
If you click on the post count from the topic list you can select start or end from there. (I’m using Android)
Or you can use the white/purple navigation box, and click on the earliest/latest as home/end.
It occurred to me that the particular topic (thread) you wanted rid of was one you’d posted in. I have a feeling that because you posted in it it flipped it to Watching (the highest alert level), so you’d get a notification every time someone posted (whether it had anything to do with what you’d written or not).
Obviously you can Mute them as above, but the other two options are far less intrusive if you didnt want to wipe those topics (or future ones) from your board completely.
‘Normal’ is pretty much what the old forum was like. The only difference is if someone quotes or mentions you directly, and then you’ll get a ping for that.
Hope this is useful.
@Ian_Chimp, No you were spot on, the Muted option was just what I wanted.
