Anyone here done their own photos? OH and I would like to try and we’re looking for any tips on poses, etc that can look flattering.
Also, have been thinking about the possibility of creating a nice photo book of shots, but don’t know how. Are there any places this could be done? Nothing pornographic, just semi nude lingerie type stuff.
Any help and advice would be gratefully received.
OMG yes, I have done professional photos with a boudoir photographer. If you google boudoir photography you will find lots of examples of body flattering poses to try and Lovehoney has some blog material about this too.
I have never got prints on my own outside my photographer so no advice there. But very empowering and fun to surprise a partner if you choose to share with someone.
Can I please offer some advice. I am a professional photographer who does studio photography. As Vanessa pointed out there are many photographers out there that will do this. I would advise caution, not all of them are professional studio photographers. Before you enguage a photographer ask to see their portfilio of work, if possible visit their premises. Once you have satisfied yourself this is the photographer you want to use, discuss your picture requirements and how you want them presented. A pro studio will have links to professional phoro printers. There should be a few studio rules, never be in the studio on your own with the photographer, have your OH BF or chaperone with you at all times. Never do anything you dont want to do, never be affraid to walk away from the shoot if you are feeling uncomfortable. My models/client wore robes till we were ready to take the shot, only then would they dis-robe, I would always have either a lighting assistant of make up artist, usually both, in the studio with me at all times. I have seen and heard of nightmare stories, so please be carefulf. Once you finfd the right photographer you will be more comfortable and the shots will look more natural. It can be agreat confidnece giving ecperience. When you do do it, enjoy yourself.
Thanks for the advice so far, but this will be me taking the photos of OH. We looked at using a pro studio but OH is not comfortable with that. And they’re not cheap either.
DIY with some nice lingerie will be absolutely as far as it goes, I’m sure we can produce something we’d both like. And then if it’s possible to get a little photo book printed, that would be a bonus.
My photographer was a woman and specilaizes in boudoir photos so for me it was very professional and very safe.
I've thought about it and know one photographer who is a model herself I'd want to get photos taken by but she's on the other end of the UK from me.
With poses, it can take some work to get a flattering pose to look good and sometimes it is not always quite so comfortable! Sometimes propping yourself up on cushions, arm of a chair, sofa etc helps with reclining poses. Anything that helps tighten limbs and helps to elongate them is also great to slim them and make them look longer. Sometimes you have to exaggerate a pose too! It can feel very unnatural but in the final photo it looks perfectly fine. I had some rather uncomfortable poses in a shoot as a super heroine but the result was great because it looked just as I and the photographer wanted. You really have to observe and look as the photographer and don't be afraid to ask them to move around to adjust a pose.
Pinterest is a good source of inspiration. Just search for boudoir photography/ poses. Lots of good stuff on there, including lighting guides.
we do a lot of our own photography, we get our inspiration from catalogues and other resources, we actually booked a air b n b for the night so that we had a normal looking room to take pictures in, rather than use our home, which could be recognised, the air b n b was chosen from hundreds available because it looked normal, with plenty of pose situations....plus no enquiring teenagers about ...lol

Im a boudoir/wedding/portrait photographer and ive also heard stories, except theyre mostly about photographers feeling unsafe around weird couples!! and about how to stay safe when in the studio with 'strangers'... LOL Dont freak out your photographer with 'porn' style shoots, they dont want to see the inside of your vagina , but seriously, tasteful couple shoots are very trendy at the moment and ive seen some lovely results, really intimate gorgeous photography, its worth having something special for yourselves especially if you can find the right photographer.
Im really passionate about boudoir, i really believe, for single people, women, mums, anyone post surgery, trans, cd, actually everyone!! its so important to have a portrait of yourself, you see yourself differently afterwards, you really end up dealing with and then getting rid of those insecure thoughts you might have about yourself during the process of a shoot, its amazing to me to see the transformation of somebody realising for the first time that they are a beautiful person, its almost therapeutic.
i meant to say- advice for posing, look on pinterest and instagram for lots of ideas, theres a brilliant photographer, jen rozenbaum, she has posing videos on youtube and is on instagram, also check out Christa Meola .

*UPDATE*
The photo sessions are going pretty well. We’ve tried twice now and, although I’m far from a good photographer, we’ve managed to produce some really pleasing pictures.
I’ve used a couple of photo editing apps on my iPad to crop, enhance and edit the pictures, and we already have at least a half dozen shots that we’re both really happy with.
We plan to have a number of other sessions using different lingerie sets and in different locations, and hope to build a decent collection of sexy and tasteful photos.
After this, we hope to put together a nice photo book by using one of the many online printing services. With that in mind, and following recommendations of decent services, I contacted Snapfish to enquire about using there service. I assumed these sorts of shots might breach their decency guidelines so wanted to confirm before using them. Here’s the relevant part of their reply;
“In general, nudity is not a problem, but pornography is.
Even in the US Supreme Court, pornography is difficult to define, but as a general guideline, we will not print any depictions of sex acts, nor any images with close-ups of genitalia.”
So, the upshot is, if we keep things sexy not porno, this is not going to be a problem. The company’s terms and conditions clearly lay out what can and can’t happen to your images once submitted, and we are both comfortable that this should be a safe and secure service.
I’ll update again when we finally finish this fun little project.
