Just read a great story by a friend, who mentioned brass dildos. She explains it's because the metal is self lubricating. I've also read it disinfects itself. This is why I wonder - why have I never seen a brass dildo in real life? Can't just be the cost of copper can it?
I've seen some steam punk toys made from brass before, but these are often homemade/ diy. I've also seen some toys that look like brass, but actually aren't.
Brass is a soft metal, i personally wouldn't want to buy a sex toy made from it as it will wear.Also as brass is a mix I would want to know what is mixed into it.
brass as far as I'm awear doesn't lubricate itself. You tend to treatbrass products with lubricants. brass has copper in it and will attract moister but will not lubricate, moister will make it wear quicker.
Some brass products may disinfect themselves if they have nickel in the mix, but this is limited in how effective it is.

I can most definately vouch for the brass not self-lubricating - i know becuase I play a brass instrument and when the valves get sticky (or worse, stuck) lube in the form of valve oil is needed to make em go up n down again! Also vaseline to put on the slides so it can be tuned. Or, if you play the trombone(!) then slide oil - ofcourse!!! It dents fairly easy too.
How about a carbon fibre dildo? That stuff is bloody strong!! (least thats wot i was told by the surgeon who put some in my arm!) And it's getting cheaper too...............................xxExternal Media

Ok the engineer in me has now been released brass is made up of 67% Copper 1% Tin 3% Lead 24% Zink.
yes it is a soft metal, but compared to plastic or other dildo materials with the exception of glass and stainless steel it is hard as hell.
Brass is not self lubricating in form of a dildo, although in some mechanical applications it is used as a bearing material.
I also doesnt self clean, i would go green in time.
The weight would be good for somthing like a butt plug and also highly polished it can look something like gold so would look good too.

What about just plain copper? Then again it would be stolen and melted down where I live. People are stripping things that have been thrown out for the bin man like my mums old strimmer last week returning from a walk with the mut I seen some guy cut the wire and bolt.

There is a reason Stainless Steel is the metal of choice alongside gold plating.
I supose an alternative would be anodized titanium. Regularly used in body jewellery. No idea how expensive that would turn out to be though.

Cant say the thought of a tarnished dildo appeals TBH nor does the thought of getting brasso near the sensitive bits!
