Having spent an age trying to find the correct charging lead to match with each of our toys, it got me to thinking, is there a chance that the sex toy industry will standardise on one type of charger and lead across all toys, akin to what is happening in the mobile phone industry?
Surely it would make sense and help to bring costs down?
I’ve taken to keeping our toys in satin bags so they don’t melt together in that weird way that silicone can. For any with their own weird chargers I just keep them together.
Otherwise I love the two pin magnetic ones that most LHG toys use! Gimme those standardised chargers.
Hmm i’m surprised you say this as I’m finding bar two or three, and I have a lot, they all seem to have very similar magnetic charging leads. My problem is more finding the right situation to whack them all on charge in a very heavily occupied household!
It’s a great idea but I think mobile chargers are only being standardised due to the EU. There is nothing to say those companies have to do it in any other country.
I think it would take a brave EU politician to raise that sex toy chargers need to be standardised also.
Ideally I’d love a multi hub with all different chargers for them. Toys have only just regularly started using USB C which is way behind everything else. I counted my cables just recently and I’ve over 50+. I have 15 magnetic ones alone The best thing I did was buy a cheap label maker when we changed our living room around. Now I tag every cable
That’s been part of my feedback for every toy and prototype I’ve tested ( when I say every .. assume that’s a small number ). The three or four different designs of magnetic ones could be great as universal but the variety of sizes and contact shapes are a pain. Especially those that only work at a certain orientation.
Although we think it is unlikely to ever change, we agree with the OP comment about standardising.
We have a fair armoury of rechargeable toys including Lovense and We-Vibe, plus a few other brands. Generally we found that certain USB cables can be used for different toys, the ones with the little magnetic nubs for instance. There are three or four toys we have that use a very thin round plug you push through a hole in the silicone. That seems to be the same plug for all those.
However there is one particular toy we have that for about six months was unusable because the specific cable for it was misplaced. We don’t know what brand it is, but it uses a cable very much like all the others but with a massive difference - all the others have the same magnetic polarity, this one is reversed. So while it looks like it can be charged with a cable from another toy, it can’t as it repels the charging lead.
Thankfully we came across the lead eventually so now all is good. But having so many different charging leads is indeed a pain. Plus when we plug them all in to charge at once we worry about causing a brown out… maybe we have too many?
We do have three of the more upmarket toys that have little cases with a sort of shaped receptacle that use wireless charging. They are much better as not only does the case close so it keeps the toy clean, and conveniently stored, it uses a standard USB cable to connect, so if you lose it you just use another. We like that concept, but they do cost more
