Any make up lovers on Lovehoney? I'm gutted to find out that my favourite make up brands (MAC and Urban Decay) aren't cruelty free anymore as MAC now imports to China (which requires animal testing by law) and L'oreal bought Urban decay. Are there any cruelty free make up brands that you'd recommend?
I use boots own brand, it's pretty good for my needs and I'm almost certain it's cruelty free
Liz Earle is entirely Cruelty Free. Google Vegan makeup, there's quite a few :)
I'm not a make up girl myself, wouldn't know what to do with it, but I'm sure the body shop make up is cruelty free and sustainable, it looks quite good too.

I used to buy body shop cosmetics, but sadly they were bought by l'oreal, so I don't class them as cruelty free anymore 
Toofaced and thebalm are good cruelty free brands :) I love make up too. I hardly ever wear it, but I love buying it anyway lol
I buy from elf cosmetics. It's not top quality but it increadibly cheap and good for price (espacially certain items). All their products are cruelty free. I think they have a eu site but there is nothing on it compaired to the us one

I use Boots Natural Collection and Collection which are cruelty free for my everyday make up ^_^
NYX Cosmetics are good for matte lip products and are cruelty free x
I'm always a bit worried to recommend cruelty-free or vegan things because these things can be so hard to 100% be certain of, but I believe Essence is cruelty-free, and they have a lot of choice of products. They're available in Wilko stores and are really reasonably priced so you can try out lots of different things without spending much at all.
I also have a cosmetic case from The Color Institute which has the leaping bunny logo, and it's the best eyeshadow I've ever used.
The only thing I can never seem to find a good cruelty-free alternative for is foundation. If anyone has any recommendations I'd be so grateful!

A make up artist acquiantance has just recommended Illamasqua to me and they said it's available in Debehams. Also came across this brand when looking at beauty blogs this morning: http://dustygirls.co.uk and they're cruelty free and sell foundation.
There's a brand called "Beauty Without Cruelty" they have a whole range of vegan cruelty free cosmetics and beauty products their UK site just sells cosmetics

The Leaping Bunny website is great to find cruelty free products. It has lots of drop down box options, and you can choose the country you are looking for too. It gives info. about the company, links to the individual websites, and the products they supply :) xx

Out of interest, do you choose to boycott cruelty-free brands that are owner by larger groups? Urban Decay are def cruelty free and still operate as an independent company. Likewise, skincare brand Liz Earle is entirely cruelty free and independent but was bought by Walgreen Boots Alliance last year. Just wondered, that's all :)Ruby Red Slippers wrote:

Yes, I assumed that the parent company will benefit in some way from sales made by the other company, so I thought that if I buy from Urban Decay I'd be indirectly supporting l'oreal. That's when it becomes a bit of a headache because I don't feel like I can trust what's on the brands website and so I try to figure out who owns who and where they sell their products. I also feel like it's hypocritical for brands like the Body Shop who make a big deal out of being cruelty free to sell out to a company that tests.
So so sad to read this, I had no idea loreal test, I'm appalled, I refuse to have Dove in the house because they use palm oil, which is destroying monkeys habitat, that's it I'll get rid of my loreal, any face cream I can now use.

Astonish are fantastic I love their stuff, alas just brought washing liquid, once that's gone I can go over to theirs.
