We can't really talk about this on the Good Afternoon thread, but I need to get this off my chest.
The main problems I have with the ending are:
1) Why did Debra have to die?
2) Oliver Saxon is still alive
3) He left Harrison with a multiple murderer
4) Is he/isn't he still a serial killer?
Its a cliffhanger!! And Oliver Saxon did die - he had a pen to the jugular!
I was sad that Debra had to go, but it meant he had no loose ends in Miami. And although Hannah was a serial killer herself, Dexter proves that this doesn't necessarily make a bad parent. I think Harrison will be fine. Plus, the fact Dexter is still alive, I reckon in years to come there may be a come-back ;)
I think it was the best open ended ending they could come up with which would tie off enough loose ends to satisfy the audience without killing EVERYONE off. Let's face it, the only other option would have been to have Dexter get caught and / or killed. I would still be crying right now if they'd done that! lol
I hate the fact deb died!! I'm pretty pissed with them for that.
Saxon is dead dexter stabbed him with a pen and he bled out but how casual was everyone about it??
Poor lil Harrison but I think its dexters way of trying to protect him, he's turned everything in on himself and there isn't anywhere else for harrison to go when he will be safe.
However what would be interesting is to see if Harrison also grows up with m/h issues because its playing into the nature vs nurture debate.
I mean I know he loves her but I wouldn't be sending my kid off with a serial killer anytime soon.
In all honesty I kind of wanted him to either get caught and see everyones reactions or to actually get away with her and Deb be alive.
I did however like the fact that Dexter did get to kill Saxon, even if not in his usual method. xx
Sorry. Not sure what I was thinking about Saxon (watching too much TV on one night does rot the brain). That was a very good way to kill him. And even better that Joey and Angel knew that it was deliberate

Either get caught/killed and Harrison ends up with Deb or get away to Argentina would have been better.
I would of really liked him to get caught. More so I could see the reactions of everyone he worked with. I think a lot would have supported him.
And yes, I'd rather Harrison end up with his sister than a murderer. But saying that... Deb is still a murderer lol!

This series has revealed that half the population of Miami are serial killers, so surely killing an medling boss doesn't really count ;-)
Its a tough one because the boss was an innocent she didn't fit the code. Its shows how fexible our mindsets can be when you end up rooting for who would be the "bad" guy and the cops trying to do their job become the real enemies if that makes sense?
I must admit I didnt like saxons mum there was something off about her cant put my finger on it.
