MrsSmith noticed a free gift offer the other day on LH website, so loaded up our shopping basket with lots of goodies. It turns out that the offer expired shortly before we checked out (without our knowing). We missed out on a freebie. Raging! Did anyone else have that issue? Do you know if the deal is a regular occurrence?
Like all offers you need to check …
Think on the positive… new items on there way ![]()
Love that reframe @Craig1234. We are keen to get hold of the new items.
I never get any offers or emails even birthday ones, have mentioned it but no one knows why do receive purchase ones though
You tried to use a promotion after it expired.
How is that “Being burned”?
Merriam-Webster online dictionary:
Burned intransitive verb
to become emotionally excited or agitated.
Without our knowing we missed out on the offer. It was running when we initially placed items in basket. MrsSmith was definitely emotionally excited (considering there was the thought of getting a surprise in the delivery). Regretfully it wasn’t available at checkout - hence the agitation.
Except that “burned” implies that Lovehoney is the source of that agitation.
- There was a time limited special offer
- You exceeded the time limit
- The fact that you exceeded the time limit was evident because the time limited promotion would have been removed from your shopping cart
I just checked my cart - which I use like a wish list - and two items I had in there were no longer in stock. Bright red warnings told me those were out of stock and a time sensitive “free gift” had disappeared.
Look I think we all get missing out on something cool but you seem to be blaming Lovehoney for not taking into account that you were either going to wait until the final moments of a gift offer or you waited too long with items in your cart.

I had items in my cart and selected a “free item”. It was nothing I was after but hey, a free toy! Went back into my cart later on and saw the item itself had actually changed. That free item was no longer a selection in the offerings and would have to choose another one. I still have not made my purchase though ![]()
I did make a purchase that qualified. When I first added to cart I was excited to see a FSOG Rabbit Cockring as one of the free gifts. Went to confirm the order with my wife and when I got back the Rabbit Ring had been swapped with a different non-rabbit vibrating cockring as an option. Little bummed (we have similar already, I was looking forward to seeing if Rabbit-style was any better for her) but free is free so I can’t really complain: I was going to shop the sale anyway.
But I too take umbrage with the idea that missing out on a promotion is enough to constitute “getting burned.” If the option of a free gift enticed you to add more to your cart than you wanted, and then the free gift ended up being trash, and now you bought more than you wanted just to get said trash, that might fall. But missing out because of timing is just a bummer, not a burn.
I’ve missed out on plenty of things due to timing - items sell out on Black Friday while I’m trying to make up my mind or are discontinued before I’ve made up my mind to buy. Currently looking at the Fantasy Unicorn dildo showing as out of stock in the US and I’m hoping it’s just temporary - I’d really love to add that one to our collection.
