I must admit I do like bright colour toys. I do have a realistic dildo but I prefer brighter colours. Not sure why, hmmm maybe it adds fun to it. I think a drawer full of skin colour toys would seem a little dull to me lol.
Maybe there are more reasons than psychology.
Yes i totally agree with LMH I like toys to look nice, i'm put off by realistic looking toys. x
most pictures for catalouges and shops are taken in light tents( something like this http://zedomax.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/diy-light-tent.jpg), which are basically really bright lights shone into a pop up tent thing. obviously cause the light is so bright it makes colours look lighter.
i dont know if LH does this though. LH are usually fairly accurate with things, only had a problem once and it was with a sweet streak corset, so not LH's fault.

yeah i must admit lighting conditions can play around witht the way things look quite dramatically! i think it was KP that was telling me recently that clothes shops have intense bright white lighting to make products looks more attractive! Trouble is you then buy stuff and go out into normal light conditions and it looks way different!
i'm not saying it shouldn't be done as everyone wants to seel their products and getting peoples attention is all part of the game! i don't think we've ever had anything from LH that looked much different from the product images so kudos for that LH! External Media
I've read a few complaints about one of the Sweet Streak corsets - the product picture looked white but it was actually a yellowy/gold colour. LH removed the picture and had a photo of MC until Sweet Streak sent a new photo to use (well I'm assuming the did - it's not MC anymore!)
Otherwise I've generally had no problems - the only things that *really* matter are clothes and the ones I've had have been as described.
The Hustler product I bought in the January sales was disappointing though (it's in my reviews) but that was more quality than colour, the colours had run but I'd say it was quality that was the issue.
And WandA's tie your own cockring was definately pink rather than red but it was still perfect really and it smells amazing!
A lot of the time people can overdo things on photoshop too if the image wasn't quite light enough when it was taken. Contrasts, brightness and levels are all to easy to get carried away with!
The Sweet Streak corset in question looked nothing like the one in the original picture - that was a creamy/ivory colour, had a much simpler pattern and had an amazing very cinched waist. The corset I got was yellow and had a normal curve to the corset.
Its not unusual for the saturation to be pushed in photos. I almost always boost it by 10-15% in my images. I think these days everybody is away that in advertising and the media what you see is rarely what you get. Digital techniques are commonplace.
The light tent thing isn't for brightness as someone suggested above, more softness thats a much more flattering light. Its why you get modifiers called 'beauty dishes' and 'soft boxes', they make light softer and thus more flattering. Next time you see a picture of a gorgeous girl in a magazine examine the catchlight in her eyes for an idea of what was used to take the picture.
