Dildo or Vibrator to start with. Or both?

I’m new to toys as my boyfriend was not keen on the idea of them but he’s gone now and with the lockdown not helping my sexual frustration I need to order a toy or two I think.

I live with parents still so noise is my biggest issue so I’m thinking a dildo would be best. I’d love a vibrator to try the feeling I’m just not sure if it would be quiet enough to use.

Any suggestions on what type of toy to start with?

Theres a whole world of sex toys to explore so being these will be your first ones I would highly recommend this dildo I have one myself and its one of the best for beginners. As for a vibrator id go for the Mini wand massager , its not as powerful or as loud as its bigger sister but it still should feel amazing, plus it comes in a few colours :slightly_smiling_face:

My partner uses vibrators with the TV on to drown out any noise. It’s odd receiving clips with David Attenborough talking in the background :joy:

There are some labelled as silenced, so I wouldn’t rule them out completely if you like the idea of a vibrator.

I use vibrating toys at home, again shared house, no one has mentioned anything yet and I don’t bother with a TV…

I would recommend a vibrator to try out first 1000%.

There are lots you can get than are relatively quiet to begin with and under a thick duvet is practically silent.

I would recommend any of these;

I would suggest a vibrator over a dildo any day if only picking one. Always vegetables with a condom on if your really feeling it.
I wouldn’t worry about the noise that much most modern vibrators are reasonably quiet and the blanket over you will help muffle the sound a fair bit.
Spend more then 20-30 bucks on it and you should be right.

It really depends on what type of stimulation you like and how you orgasm. If you orgasm from external clit stimulation, then a bullet vibrator or wand would be the best choice (and keep an eye out for which ones are quieter). You can always incorporate some play time into a daily shower (make sure obviously that the toy is waterproof) and noise will be less of an issue, but as others have said, a duvet / blanket and/or TV/music can provide enough protection.

If you prefer internal stimulation, then a dildo or a realistic vibrator may be the go to.

A dildo really was a world changer for myself and mrs sen and she absolutely loves her realistic dildos, but push come to shove, and she’d opt for her mains powered wand as her “desert island” toy.

Hi @sammy-jo. It’s really difficult to say whether you would be best with a dildo or a vibrator because everyone has different tastes. What’s best for one person might not work for someone else. @Senator makes a great point about how you usually like to play and how you usually orgasm. Dildos are great if you like internal stimulation, but if you are more into clit stimulation, a vibrator might be the best option. Or you could opt for a vibrating dildo or a rabbit vibrator for the best of both worlds?

The only thing I would suggest is that, if you go for a vibrator, you start with something with weaker vibrations. If you haven’t tried one before, then some of the high power ones might be a bit intense. That might just be me though!

The first toy I ever purchased was a vibrating dildo, so kind of a bit of both. I still have it and have been using it as a dildo (without batteries) for ages. My rationale is that I can easily do (to myself) what a vibrator does, but I can’t as easily replicate what a dildo does. Ive always been a bit over-sensitive for many vibrators though, so I don’t always love them. I do want to try one of the newer ones that supposedly does a better job of simulating oral sex.

Totally agree with picking something that is not too powerful/has multiple settings also.

There are a wide choice of toys available now and to be honest list is endless and once you start you will probably spend an awful lot of money!

It all depends if you tend to be able to orgasm through intercourse or other stimulation.

Today’s deal of the day could be a good possibility to consider especially as it is down in price and it is kinda 2 in 1 for what you are looking for.

Mrs Chimp likes the two-toy set up, so she would say go for both. :slightly_smiling_face: Her favourite combo is a glass dildo (like the LH Beaded one) and a good clit toy (something like the Tango, or her Womanizer). With two toys she can get everything just the way she likes it, rather than relying on something like a rabbit-shaped vibe (which can be tricky to find a perfect one for everyone’s anatomy).

She likes the dual stimulation, but if she had to pick one she’d go for clit stim over the penetration toys.

Yeah we use a similar set up, glass ones are great and go crazy when she gets all wet. We had a great rabbit that was just the right angle, was a dolphin one actually. But it broke and we cant find it again, was a sad day. Got to hold onto a good rabbit vib if you find the right one.

Hello! I love to use both a vibrator and dildo once I’ve really gotten down to business, but usually I start with a vibrator and ease into a dildo as I get wetter. I totally understand the noise concern however! Having experience with this I’ve definitely employed some white noise from a TV or fan as help as others have mentioned on this thread, but it’s also helpful to use a pillow or blanket to muffle if those aren’t available at the moment. It’s definitely helpful to use a quieter vibrator! I always look for one that says “whisper-quiet” or something along those lines, and even though they may not actually be whisper-quiet it’s better than some really loud buzzers!
Hope this helps! :slight_smile:

@sammy-jo
We need to be quiet as well, with some family still at home. We bought the following set…

These are really quiet. The vib with the bulb head is great for hitting the g-spot. Very intense vib that can be adjusted like turning up a volume dial.
The large rippled vib can double as a dildo. It has a deep throb vibration, which I use for a bit of me time. Feels really good holding against cock when wanking.
The small vib is still quite good and can be used as a vibrating but toy.
Great value in the set.
Hope these help… …enjoy.

Externally. Don’t put bullets up your bum. :negative_squared_cross_mark:

@Ian_Chimp
I hadn’t inserted it fully and let go… I take it you mean in case they get lost.?

That’s right. Bums are like hungry hippos and will slurp up small objects. It’s best to stick with anal toys with flared bases, or big handles, so nothing slips out of your lubey grasp and sends you off to A&E. :slightly_smiling_face:

Bullets shouldn’t be inserted anywhere really, as they’re so small. They’re much safer as external toys.

Personally the combination of both works best for me, although if I had to choose one it would be a vibrator - bullets are good value for money. I use this one a lot. My go to dildo with that vibrator is the Lelo Ella, which stimulates the g-spot. Lovehoney do an affordable one which looks similar. Whatever you decide on I hope you enjoy it :grin:

@Ian_Chimp Thanks… :flushed: visit to A&E. no that would not be good. !!Barely been inside and with firm grip…but good point , well made.

Both, obviously! Preferably at the same time :partying_face:

Get both :drooling_face: realistic ones are a good place to start. Enjoy
