Blogger have announced that from 30th June they will no longer host any adult material and will be taking posts and pictures down. This includes adverts and links to adult sites.
I am already moving mine to a self hosting site but wanted to warn everyone who could be effected
Glad I have moved to a hosted site powered through Wordpress. It will be a shame to see so many great sites go, hopefully people will move their site. I have noticed that there are a lot of sites that don't seem to be hosted by Blogger but have that warning come up.
More info can be found here: http://thenextweb.com/google/2013/06/27/google-will-take-down-blogger-sites-on-june-30-which-host-adult-content-and-show-ads-for-adult-sites/
Though the way that the message has been worded is that they are more worried about people who have advertisments than adult content. But then I guess this would include affiliate links in the content too.
Luckily I JUST moved from Blogger to self hosting on Wordpress one day ago! Thank goodness I did because it took me ten days (Hey I am a techno noob lol) but I feel terrible right now seeing a lot of friends in the community struggling with having 4 days notice to shift an entire blog. A see a few are in a similar situation where they don't know how to move over and are quite upset. It sucks, a lot.
Despina is right. I am also under the impression it will be any links that link back to an adult site, including affiliate links, adverts etc. I am also seeing Tweets to say that this is just a sign of things to come and soon it will include pics etc (maybe doom mongering messages or maybe not, time will tell)
I don't get the short notice, they know that it will take people more than 3 days to get their site to a new platform. I think that they just want them to be deleted and not give people enough time.
I don't think they care. They gain nothing from giving a longer warning other than a little bit of respect from a small nuber of bloggers who will still be leaving them anyway. They decided on the new rules and know adult bloggers will jump ship and they have no benefit to giving people a longer warning (Its not like it will encourage people to stay or anything) and so they don't care. Thats my guess anyway.:S
No but they know that some people simply wont be able to move their site, they may not have enough time, may be away, may have personal issues, may not know how to work other sites etc. I appreciate that they no longer want adult bloggers but they should still give more than 4 days warning. If Blogger was closing down I am sure they wouild give more warning to non-adult content bloggers. So why should there be any difference?

Fluffbags are you still in the process of moving things over or is there a new site address as i haven't been able to get on today. Could be me though i am a bit hopeless with computers :)
Depends on what you are looking for really. Wordpress and self hosted sites are best for serious bloggers. People who are casual bloggers could use http://blog.com/ or http://www.typepad.com/ for more website based then http://www.weebly.com/ is an option.
All of these sites are free but limited. Good themes often cost so do own domains and other options. It's fine for a casual hobby though.

I moved over yesterday and I have had a few reports of people not being able to access my site, which is a little worrying. However, most people got on fine and the few who couldn't reported back that they could later on in the day. I am still worried to hear that some people can't access my site. Can I suggest trying going to this link (Which is a new review posted AFTER the move yesterday) and seeing if that then allows you access to my site? (This worked for one of my friends and my partner said the only thing he can think of it that people who have been on my site prior to the move may have something in their cache causing issues)
heres my new review: http://grittywoman.co.uk/review/tenga/iroha-midori
Please let me know what happens as I am working on it. I guess I have a few niggles that need ironing out. Frustrating when you don't know what causes it. I am a techno noob lol
No luck im afraid, the link brings up your reviews on YouTube but i can't get through to the site just comes up with the 404 message. Its the same on my laptop and phone but I've tried another computer and i can get on the site through that just fine.
Unfortunately i know nothing about computers so don't know what's different about them but if i find out I'll let you know :)
Lou I would probably recommend clearing your cache. I am not good with computers either to be honest but if you can access the site on one, but not the other, I reckon its something to do with my old site info stored in your cache or something technical that I don't quite understand lol
Still working on it myself. Thanks for letting me know Despina! Helps to know that all is (kinda) working okay so far.
Going to try figure out whats going on. I am sure it has something to do with redirecting the pages. I am pretty sure I may have done something slightly wrong to cause quite a few people issues.
Defining adult content will be fun for some poor sod....
I cant imagine many children are interested in my treatise on the logstical challenges of the Pomeranian Project, or indeed, proper employment of the Adeptus Astartes within an Imperial combined arms force.

I'm back on the site! :) I cleared the cache as you suggested but it was still a couple of hours before i was able to get on so don't know if that was the cause or not.
