purchased my first glass butt plug (with a lovely tail attached OwO) today but honestly I'm pretty nervous about the material as it's literally glass.
I've got a nice little toy box (so the actual anal side isn't the problem) but just something about putting something made of glass up there is just making me a bit jumpy I guess.
Am I being silly? Do I need to take anything into consideration? Any reassurance is appreciated - It should arrive Saturday (I'll keep you posted!).
Glass can be a little nerve wracking but honestly it's nothing to worry about. It isn't like a wine glass, more a Pyrex dish. It's super strong and not going to shatter. It would likely dent your floor first. The advice I can offer is use plenty of lube as always with anal toys. Warm it in warm water or even in your hands. If you aren't used to the coolness of glass you may clench a bit causing difficulty. Again, this is why lube is fabulous. Good luck and enjoy it! I love my glass plugs. I have 4 in my collection!
I've never used glass on myself but did introduce it to a lady I was seeing before, she loved it and said she'd never felt anything like it before, best advice is try to relax, lube up and enjoy the sensation of something new
Hey I think anyone will be concerned and worried about putting glass in their bodies but you have nothing to worry about. The toys are made from super strong tempered glass and are scratch and shatter resistant and they are super smooth. Just don’t heat them up in a microwave or oven (people do try this sort of thing) and don’t use boiling water. I know this all sounds common knowledge but I know a lot of people try all sorts of things for a thrill and it’s best to be avoided. The bottom line is glass is awesome and it’s super safe and you have nothing to be worried about, but as rosy cheek said just warm it up in some warm water at first as the cold glass can catch you off guard 😅
I own a glass dildo myself (https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30946) and the advise you've already been given is correct: they are made of a special kind of glass that is not as fragile as the usual one. The smoothness of glass is inccrdible and also the fact that you can choose the temperature by warming or cooling it.
As LIL_KNOWN69 advises, warm it up in warm water, not boiling. And the same precautions apply for cooling it: never in the freezer as you can get burnt also by a freezing toy.

I haven't used one yet and feel the same as you about it, but been given some helpful advice about experimenting with temperatures as 'Sole' has mentioned. Look forward to hearing how you get on! x 😉 Hopefully you will convince myself to get one! 😯
It's also great that others have described the texture/strength of the glass on here, as that's a common worry when debating whether to get one or not. Thanks. x

Well that sorts out what I'm arming myself with if we ever have an intruder in the house. And stored right next to the bed, so convenient.
Pyrex these days isn’t what t used to be. It was borosilicate glass but is now just lime soda glass. Still can be heated directly etc, but nowhere near as strong. LH says their glass toys are toughened glass, this makes the material quite a bit stronger and if it does break it is far less likely to break into sharp pieces, instead it will either shatter into small granular pieces like a car window or more likely it will eventually break at a stress point rather than shatter. Over time toughened glass can weaken if not thoroughly annealed and these toys are not annealed. What tends to happen is after several years it will break along a stress point when dropped or something. But as new, toughened glass can be very strong, I’ve even seen a window installer strike a toughened window with a hammer and it didn’t break, much like the vids of idiots throwing bricks and rocks at car windows only for them to bounce off. Your toy is quite a bit thicker than the window and quite a bit stronger.

Thanks for the support everyone, you've genuinely reassured me a fair bit. I did kinda know they aren't hollow but the idea of glass just kinda made me nervous for some reason.
Glass is fine just keep it away from tiled floors, ceramic baths and shower trays/bathroom furniture and cast iron baths.
I was super nervous about glass & despite hubby trying to persuade me I steared clear for a long time, however recently I decided to buy one when it was on offer & I love it! It truly is like nothing else! I love the weight & the firmness of it, I adore it cold! I have a jug of cold water with ice & after just a few seconds in it’s an amazing sensation! I quickly went from one glass dildo to three plus a slim anal dildo. Just be careful where you use it ceramic bath & tiled floor and glass dildos don’t go well together! Enjoy!
