Well the wife has been away and planned to pick her up early morning when the orange plane company has cancelled the flight … next flight 2nd October … 4 days time …

Oh no!
The same company left us stranded in Croatia last year by cancelling the only flight out of that airport for a week!
A WhatsApp message at 6.30am when the flight was about 10am!
There was a BA flight leaving a similar time but to Heathrow instead of back to Luton and a lot more expensive.
The alternative options given by the orange company were completely useless.
At least we managed to get home.
Hope your wife gets to enjoy her extra break and make sure she claims for everything she can!

We were delayed 36 hours coming back from holiday last year. company put us in a crap hotel for the 36 hours. Certainly a life experience.

Not mine, but a couple of years ago when we had all that snow in the UK, my parents had gone to Malta two weeks before and were due home. Bristol International was absolutely snowed under, so they had to land at Birmingham and get a taxi back. Fortunately they had travel insurance and all was paid for, could have been expensive otherwise!
