Nope, whips have a single tail, floggers have multiple throngs 
Unless you’re talling about a cat o’ nine tails, which is sort of a hybrid of the two 
So whips is the one I see often in movies. Though lately I’ve across staged photos of ladies holding riding crops. Is it true you need a lot of space to use whips safely?

Yes you do need a fair amount of space. Although you can get shorter ones, you need basically need double the length in front and behind you and the same length above you.
As @Calie said it depends on the length of the whip. Really for indoor use a 3ft signal whip is probably best, unless you have a BIG space.
Riding crops don’t need aot of space, however. I’m a riding crop aficionado 
Riding crops are great for nipple play and spanking on the palms and feet, not so much for the bottom

Wow loved your response! I’ve never heard of events like this? So is this a purely spanking/flogging event? With no sex? Or with sex? Or you completely naked when this happens or are you in clothes?
My partner and I are looking to dip our toe into the world of sex clubs and having both never attended anything like this we are potentially looking into alternative clubs/events where sex is kind of optional (appreciate it should always be optional but it’s not a purely swinging/sex event).
