The idea itself is a lovely thought π I just think that in practice, whoever does the voting/choosing, the less popular members will be left out because that's generally how these things go down. But I'm just speaking from personal experience as I've never been popular so I've always experienced these things from the other side. Like when they do the yearbook awards at uni etc, it just leaves you feeling like an outcast.
I hope Leanne doesn't feel bad though, because it is a nice idea and it comes from a well meaning place. And clearly a lot of members like the idea too x
I am really sorry guys, I was just thinking out of the box as I know members have had a lot of help and hasΒ been asked for in the suggestion thread by many members.Β
This is why I asked first before doing it. So now I know and as it's in bad taste I will no longer pursue. Thank you all for the comments on this. My deepest apologies
No need to apologise Leanne. It was a nice idea and worth discussing. This discussion just shows how important it is for everyone that it is inclusive here. What a nice group of people!
No need to apologise. I am the one that needs to say sorry.
I really didn't mean it to come across as not all the members matter. More of a thank you from us, from you guys that have had some stellar advice.
Like the wishlist gifting but without members sending those gifts. Of course, you all are equal and we appreciate you all. Just wanted to show some of that appreciation for the fantastic advice that has helped many.
I am sorry I did not think about it being in bad taste at all. Sometimes my ideas get the better of me from suggestions made. I will shut up now as I will probably dig a bigger hole ( I do this often).
But now I know and this one is off the table and I appreciate the input. If you don't ask, you don't know!
I'm gonna stick my oar in and say I don't think this is the best use of LH forum reward.
What makes one member better than another - are we not all equal? I just think this has the possibility to create discontent and promote elitism. Then again I reported this thread and others like it in thr past. and I'm infamously grumpy, plus I'm decidedly peripheral these days
I would much rather you run competitions like you have been doing where anyone stands a fair chance of winning.
Its not often I don't agree with Subby and this occasion is no different .. I just feel that some members may feel excluded especially if newish.
Perhaps more competiions could be a way forward which allows the participation by all, something alonmg the lines of that game we previously had when someone placed 3 obscure statements and everyone had to pick the one that is true. While it lasted it was really fun and you learned a lot about the individuals as well as we are quite a diverse bunch on here.

Sadly, that upset a couple of members too :(
The suggestion thread is still running, feel free to pop some ideas on there:
You can't please everyone with every competition. (Although I know you do try your best Leanne. Much appreciated) I'm sure if there's a good mix off different ones to enter the forum will remain a happy social place.
I will stick with the ones that seem to work. The old faithful
And if you all have any suggestions for something new and inviting, pop them on the above thread
Awwh, the idea was nice and intentions came from a good place, so no need to apologise. For me its just like employee of the month that some work institutions have in place, I dont agree with it. As everybody does their bit and are equal. Especially for some folk with anxiety, fitting in issues, (me) etc, this idea made me worry a bit.
It was a lovely thought and some people liked it some people didn't. The important part of a discussion is to find out what others think about your idea. Then you have a good basis for the final decision. π

Sending you positive energy Leanne βοΈ
It's like at school they give out green certificates but of you're a permanently high achiever you don't seem to get them as often which is very demoralising.
It was a nice idea in theory but can understand why people not so keen.
Anyway, putting the thread back on topic, I would personally like to thank all the members who have been following and supporting me in my current and ongoing 'battle' with the menopause.
Your comments and hugs have meant the world to me, and still do.
